water temp gauge broken?

i think my water temp gauge is broken because it doesn't move at all even if i drove it for a while...it would just stay at that same place when i turn off the car...could it be that the water temp sending unit is not working...anyone ever have this problem...?

let it ide for a wile if the gauge doesn't move its either the sender or the gauge. if it does move its the thermostat

It could also be a bad gauge. I have the same problem with my 99 si. The needle goes up to normal temp quickly but after some driving shoots right into the red even though the car is not running hot. I've replaced everything that has to do with the gauge except for the actual gauge itself.
