Question What's the best short shifter kit they make for a 00 Si ???

I Want to get a short shifter kit. I have no idea which one to get. I looked at the DC sports one but only saw the actuall shifter. I would like to get the entire kit (includes the knob etc.). Could you guys give me some opinions on some good ones ? Maybe point me in the direction I could go to order them (website). Any help you can contribute would be appreciated greatly.

P.S. I tried to but it has been disabled by the administrator.:

a buddy of mine has the dc kit, and it is very nice. I remember when i was recommended a kit by a very reputable local shop all the guys said hands down, the skunk2 kit is the way to go.

Of course, if you have an extra $300, the C's kit is the BEST you can buy, but that's again if you have the money for it.

Get Neuspeed. Absolutely no reports of fitment problems unlike DC and others hitting the heat shield. It's not as low as the DC but provides nice short throws. Got mine from groupbuycenter.com for $111 shipped.

what would happen if you took a hack saw or something and just cut your shifter down then re-threaded it? would it be that awkward of an angle the way it would sit after-wards?

The pivot angle wouldn't change so your throw would be "shorter" only because the shift knob is closer to the floor. Take a look at picture supplied by B&M. Your suggestion would simply drop the handle down on the top picture. A true short shifter is shown below.

Maybe I'm missing something here. But isn't the shifter in the Si already one of the strong points of the car. Honda is kind of known in the industry to make the best shifters.

I think it's important not to confuse the length of the throw with the quality of the shifter. Lots of short shifting cars have horrible feel to them.

I guess I can think of 10 other things to mess with before I got touching what is already pretty close to perfect from the factory.

Hey, to each his own. Some people prefer the shorter throw and quicker shifts allowed from a short shifter. The linkage and tranny stay the same so the "feel" remains the same, the quickness and tightness is only improved.

Come to think about it, if you look at some of the really fast 9 second civics, most of them don't use a short through shifter at all.

I have a Neuspeed SS and it is nice, but if you have the $$$ and want the best SS on the market, get a C's. http://godspeed.hack.net/c's.html

P.S. I changed my login name, but it is still me

How much lower does the neuspeed sit then stock?

As far as the C's goes, you have to get type R shift linkage for it to work. My frind has one, its nice but not worth 300 IMO.

Yeah, 300 is a bit much. Especially if I have to get other parts. Do you guys know exactly how much shorter the throw is?Percentage wise. I would like to have one at least 50% shorter.
