The grinding may be your syncros. Usually the 3rd gear syncro goes in Hondas first.

As far as the clutch goes, if you don't have major mods, and you don't beat it the stock clutch should last more than 40k miles.

IMO an after market clutch is one of the best mods you can get. I'm getting an ACT.

Even if your clutch is still good, an after market one is still a great upgrade. After I drove my friends Si that had an ACT I feel in love. Theres just something about chirping third that did it for me

what if you syncros are gone, does that mean new tranny or does it just mean replace the syncromesh?

If your syncos are gone, you have to get them replaced. Even though your out of warrenty, I would still see if Honda will cover it.

i just got mine installed a few days ago and its awesome. Its the exedy racing clutch with organic clutch disk material. 2nd gear barks way louder than before now and 3rd lets out a small chirp. Im wondering if it will improve my times at the track. It just seems and feels like more power is getting to the ground now then before. But it never felt like i was loosing any power before, until the clutch went out completely and the car wouldnt get into gear. It is nice to hear 3rd chirp like that though.

What are some good/best brands of aftermarket clutches? Are they alot more expensive than stock ones. Do they feel alot better than stock? I want a better clutch!

i got my exedy for 265 total and shipping was free. It came with the bearings and alignment tool and pressure plate too. I dont care if it makes my differential break, i dont think it will though i need more power before i can go and do something like that

each gear has one synchro. they are what make your shifter go into the proper gear without having to put too much effort into it. all you have to do is push up or down pretty much and it goes to the proper gear.
