tech wrench Why the noise???? HELP!!!

I posted this thread in the wheels forun but looks that everybody there are fancying with their chrome wheels~ Please help me...

Hi, I recently got some new 16x7 Enkei's for my 2000 EK4....
I really love them, but I've got a problem....

the problem:
my cousin gave me some unusing tires, so I made 205/45/16 for the front and 205/50/16 for the rear... Front ones are brand new and rears used but still in very GOOD condition...

From the moment I changed my wheels I get a f**king noise (like humming) at 45~70 mph... I think its constant, but it gets to the "top" at that speed range...
It's a "uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu~~~~~~~", like some damaged bearing or something...

- Does anybody suffer (or suffered) the same problem???
- Are the tires too "big"??? Should I go 205/40/16 on all 4???
- the tires are Sumitomo HTRII

- what brand would you recommend??? I want it to be SMOOTH AND QUIET!!!!

The original wheel & tire sizes are: 15" with 195/50...

it sounds like normal road noise you get from running directional tires. are they worn at all? a buddy of mine had the HTRZ II and he only encountered obscene road noise once they started to wear down.

ummm... well, did u redo ur suspension and everything to compensate for the slightly bigger tires?

but ya, it really just sounds like some roadnoise... idk man, get it to some tire shop and let em look it over.

might be ur tires are expanding at certain speeds and rubbing ur car as you drive? ive had that happen in a friends car when he got bigger tires and didnt make sure his car could handle them moving and expanding depending on the conditions.

Well, the rear ones are used. the front ones new....
the problem is that the noise is from the front, not the rear....
I switched the front ones with the original ones and the noise died...
I mean, can a new tire be that bad????

In any case, what tires would you recommend? performance/price affordable...

As already stated directional tires to have a tendecy to make a lot of noise, I would reccommend switching tires. Are you sure the wheel bearings are all right?
