Edited: 02-04 vs 05-06 BASE

Now... I know there are many differences in the looks department and maybe some updates in creature comforts but, as far as the mechanicals go, is there a difference between the 02-04 RSX base and the 05-06 RSX base. I'm finding base RSX's in my price range which is cool and I've found that a Hondata reflash gives some decent improvement all around in the power department.

I've tried to search for this info but the search on this site is funky when it comes to anything less than 4 letters. Searching RSX yields zero results. I have also tried google and ask but, I keep getting base vs. S comparisons

I know the first reply I'm gonna get is, "just get a Type-S" and yes, I have been looking at those as well but, they're just too expensive still and the ones that ARE closer to 12k are generally already modded or uber high mileage. The way these kids are in my area with street racing... i'd rather not take the chance of getting a ragged out machine.
That and... this would be my first manual so, something a little more modest with a 5spd would probably be a better idea for me.

Any/all info is greatly appreciated and, if you feel the need to reply with "Just get a Type-S", that's fine but, at least give a good reason

Nevermind... I think I found a suitable answer on another forum. I also found a couple of used RSX-S's for reasonable prices. The mileage is a bit high (91K and 98 K) but, I'll figure that out on my own... unless anyone has any input on an S with that many miles.

if not... we can let this thread die.

I got my 2002 RSX Type S with 65k miles for 10,900...I thought it was a steal of a price, and now I have 85k miles on it, and still drives like new...this car is definitely worth every cent.



Just get a Type S, you'll regret the base.
