Goodyear EAGLE F1 GS D3 First impressions

First impression of these tires Whoaaaa! Grippy yet quiet. Took them over all kinds of road surfaces this morning, and even with it still being somewhat cold they don't leave much to be desired. I will post more about them as the miles pile up. It's a big difference from the stock tires, some of which can be attributed to the 7.5" wide rims also. The ride wasn't overly harsh, as a matter of fact it seemed better than the stock tires even with the narrower sidewalls. (maybe due to the extra width) No squealing under brisk take-offs. One surprising thing was that the car seemed to torque steer less. However roads that have big swales (longitudinal depressions from the heavy trucks) in them it did want to track along the swale more. I didn't get out to any gravel roads, to see how they will react there, since they are all still snow covered and getting quite muddy. Sorry no pictures yet.

The stock tire with 32000 miles of wear (the wear bars are just at the surface of the tread) and rim weighed 37+ on my bathroom scale. Just a little over 38# for the 17" X 7.5" rim (Kosei Racing K1) and 225/45/ZR17 tire.

They are 143 each from tirerack.com + shipping. I also ordered rims 17X7.5 Kosei Racing K-1's they mounted and balanced everything. With 3 day FEDEX freight for rims/tires was just under $60.00. Paid $1200 for the rim/tire package + the 60 shipping. I was told that everything would ship on the 10th but FEDEX tried to deliver on the 4th, and I picked them up at their office on the 7th.

It's like night and day difference in the feeling of the car.
The only complaint I have is that there were no center caps for the wheels. But Alex at Tirerack is looking into it for me. The caps need to be domed to clear the nut on the hub centers. When I get some caps I will paint them Arctic Blue to match the car. BTW my rims are white and look great with the Arctic Blue.
