RSX OIL CHANCE INTERVAL?
Why can regular, non synthetic motor oil go for 5-10K FACTORY RECOMMENDED intervals? what happened to 3k? i went to a expressway to get oil change due to time constraints and they told me my oil was very dirty after 5k and to start doing 3k changes. who is more accurate? expressway or acura?

Nowdays oil changes can last longer then the old 3k intervals. HOWEVER, I still change mine every 3k no matter what. I even use German Castrol Synthetic and still do. Better safe then sorry I say.

i doubt the maker of the car is going to tell you something that will be bad for your car, especially since they might end up taking a large warranty hit if anything bad happens
Trust Acura, they know better than anyone what to do with the car they built and designed. When was the last time a car owners manual lied to you?

youre not letting the oil do its job. Oil needs broken in just like everything else. It performs best between 3-5k miles, meaning your engine gets the best lubrication during this time period.
But judging by your reputation score, you really dont have any good advice to offer

might i add, this is regular oil, not synthetic. we all know synthetic lasts longer, therefore it works better at different mile intervals

btw, wouldnt that get WAYY too expensive? you must not drive your car much cuz royal purple is $$$ and every 2k? Even if what was said above doesnt apply [which im sure it does, it makes sense] That is totally unneccessary. youre basically wasting your money if you change the oil a whole 1000 miles before the VERY EARLIEST that is recommended.

That's because I one shotted his rep because he was spreading bullshit.
Depends on the type of driving you do. I drive my car very aggressively and take it to redline all the time, so I do my oil changes 3k-4k miles with Royal Purple. Longest I have gone without a change is 7500 miles on Amsoil

Didn't use their filter, used a Bosch Platinum, and yeah the oil was good after the 7500 . But I put two hard track days on it hitting 10k liberally, so I just wanted to be safe.
