tech wrench What should I do?

I bought my type S in March and I'm wondering are there any "must have" performance upgrades that I should get? It already came with a K&N short Ram air intake. Any suggestions are appreciated!

i hope to have this car for a few more years. I'm sort of hesitating on doing anything extravagent because when the new civic mugen type r's come into my area i hope to get one. One of my boys here owns a body shop and he is making me a custom exhaust. I guess I'm mostly looking for ideas under the hood.

if you're in america or canada we're not getting type r's. those mugen civic si's are nothing more than an si with a body kit, wing, wheels, and big markup.

This list is in order of install, so you can slowly add more power as you feel that you want it:

Before you do ANYTHING put Royal Purple Transmission fluid in it...this will protect our weak little synchro mesh gears prolonging the life of your tranny.

1. throw the K&N in the trash and get an Injen CAI with aqua sheild

2. a good quality RACE header (not shorty) Buddy Club, if you have the $, if not then Comptech or Strup. I would recommend the strup over comptech cheaper, similar quality, and better design.

3. A good exhaust. I have had 3 on my car before I made 1 myself. Good: 1. comptech, 2. HKS anything 2.5"
Bad: Megan (great for S/C (supercharged) apps. but it kills untuned N/A cars) it's a 2.75" and it doesn't provide ANY backpressure. It sounds great but it's LOUD!!!

3. K-Pro is AMAZING!!! it allows you to tune your A/f ratios and many other things such as fuel point's and so on, so you can get the max out of your motor and keep it running properly.

4. RBC Intake Mani. from the K24 motors. even when i wasn't boosted it made a HUGE difference in power for my car it made a 21hp difference after tuning.

6. ESMM (Energy Suspension Motor Mount) Inserts. make the ride a little rough but you have no more wheel hop that RSX'S are so bad about.

5. LSD(Limited Slip Differential) this distributes power evenly between both wheels, forever banishing the "one-wheeler-peeler". spend the $ on a Quaife , no OBX(ebay) crap unless you can rebuild it yourself like I did. POOR QUALITY like you wouldn't believe. you don't need this to go fast but it is FUN!!!!

That should get you going for now. Find these parts HERE Woon hooks it up on pricing and inventory...

-Go with a cold air intake or short ram intake, from injen, aem, greddy or hks.
-Get headers from either dc sports or greddy
-Im not sure if anybody makes intake manifolds for the rsx, skunk2 might or venom.
-An unorthodox pulley will free up some rotating mass for you.
-aem, skunk2, hks or greddy cam gears would also give you a little more power along with a set of good cams. Skunk2 is known for making really good cams along with crower, greddy and of course hks.
-he only other basic bolt on i can really think of is a bigger throttle body, 60mm perhaps. I know skunk2 and aem make those.
-get good spark plugs and spark plug wires, from ngk, msd, nology or magnecor. Iridium spark plugs last the longest and will give you the most spark.

1. DC sports headers Crack on K20's too much heat collects between the firewall and the block. 2ndly good luck trying to find a Greddy race header for a K20...they don't exist.

2. there are Intake manifolds for k20's but only for boosted or high comp. N/A app.'s. The RBC mani. from the K24 motor is Massive...it's AMAZING but you need a K-Pro

3. Unorthodox pulley's make no to little diff. on the K20 motor or even a B or H motor in that case. WASTE OF $$$.

4. Skunk 2 and HKS DON'T make TB's for K20's and if they did which they don't, they would be worthless to a K20 unless you have an RBC and K-Pro.

5. RSX'S have coil packs not plug wires and a distributor like B's and OEM Spec is the best (unless your at 400+ hp) the only thing you could think about after that is a grounding system but it's still a waste in my mind and in the minds of pro tuners world wide.

I agree that good plugs are a must in EVERY car but they do little in the way of power unless you have alot of it.

These are B-series tips at best. research before you post please!

that is typically true...on K-series motors your piping leads beside your block and rests in a little hole blocked from airflow between your block and transmission. it's just not beneficial on K's.
