Trying out for a HXC band
So i met this kid today who is looking for a vocalist. he described their sound similar to a day to remember with more hardcore to it. Anyway, im a little nervous as to the tryout because its not like we are going to play a song we all know, i have to sing/scream to something they have written that ive never heard before. I have lyrics written, but theres no real tune to it, and i dont know where theyre gonna go with their song. I dont want to have a deep growl on one of their mellow parts, or sing during a heavy breakdown that happens out of nowhere.
Anyone ever done anything similar and have some suggestions?
ive done stuff with other people where we just mess around and i scream to some music, but its hard to get it to sound good when youre just making everything up on the spot

sounds like it would be easier for everyone if you tried something you all know, then let them tell/show you what they want their song to sound like

but no seriously, if your "trying" out, they should just pop in a cd you knowz and see how its goes with that, then have you sing some lyrics over something of their shit that they give you to listen to. |

thats probably what were gonna do, hopefully ill have the demo this week and i will throw something sick together. Im thinking i will be a little too hardcore for them though

ha thats what happened to me. my friend was in a band and one time he said i should do guest vocals for him cuz i did a couple times for my other friends hxc band. so he listned to me and said i was to hardcore lol |
