I'm not going to BS you here, they are both good amps. Personally I prefer Directed, but then again I have never worked with a hifonics.

First off, you need to realize with that sub it is Dual Voice Coil at 4 ohms each. Meaning the most you can get out of it is wiring in parallel to get it running at 2 ohms. Now you have to match that impendance and the RMS power ratings up to get your best option.

The hifonics has 900-1000 watts RMS @ 2 ohms with .08% THD (that's just what I looked up, whether that's real or not I'm not sure)

The directed has 800 watts RMS @ 2 ohms with .7% THD

I don't know what the peak power for either those is @ 2 ohms but I'm sure they will both exceed 1000 watts.

If you ask me both of those amps are way over kill with just the 1 12w6v2 but as long as the gain is turned down on the amp you should be fine and have some room to pop another sucker in there if you so desire.

So I guess here is the part where I do my little "and if you want to take a look, I have an 1100d N.I.B. for sale"

Naw, but seriously, just think about what I said and evaluate what you really hope to get out of this now, and for the future.

G/L

Default like what? They already have the wiring from one + voice coil going to the other + voice coil and same for the - ??

In any event, feel free to read the rest of my evaluation on your situation

you say they're dual 4 ohms, correct, but when u buy it, u can re-wire however u want to use it on the sub, i think mines set parallel, like the wire is from + to the - on ...so i believe it runs 2ohms.. here i'll link u http://www.jlaudio.com/subwoofers/pd...6v2_Review.pdf not sure if i'm correct, correct me if i'm wrong, i'm not even quite 100% sure what those wiring are for, but they're wired however they are in the link i sent u

here's a link you should check out, this is about as easy an explanation as it gets.

http://www.jlaudio.com/tutorials/wir...dex.html#1dvcp

that shows the configuration for your sub (dual voice coil @ 4 ohms each) in parallel. you wire the + up to the other + and then take it to the amp, same for the -. i don't know how else to say it...
