ok folks, my womans got a 96 accord...i plan on replacing all the speakers and adding one 10 or one 12...my thoughts right now is getting 4 infinity speakers, each handles at least 75watts rms, a perfect 10, and a mtx thunder 564...
the amp is suppose to be 70x4@4 ohms, 140x4@2 ohms, 280x2@4 ohms...
i was thinking i could bridge the 4 speakers to 2 channels to give it a 2 ohms load say for the front channels so each speaker will get 70 watts rms...then i can get a dual 2 ohm sub and wire that in parallel to give it a 4 ohm load for the rear...I figure doing this will maximize the use of the amp without overworking it...
the only problem i can think with this is that i won't be able to fade my speakers front to rear...would this be a decent set up?
I personally like mtx amps because they're underrated, and very nice size so i can mount it under the passenger seat...any other suggestions for a decently small but power amp thats in the $200 range like the 564?
Speakers are not "bridged". You can bridge channels of an amp like the two that you want to bridge to run the sub. Sounds like a good system. Nice and simple. Less wires = less cost. The only drawback is the inability to fade which will draw the sound stage to the rear. I'm planning to do the same setup with my g/f's Accord.
Why not get the MTX Thunder 895, it's a 5 channel amp. I belive you can find the amp for around $250 on ebay. Running the front and rear speakers on two channels, isn't a good ideal, your sound stage will be way off. There are some resistors that you can put on the rear speakers to fade the sound to the front, but still you are better off with something different.
I would go with a 5 channel amp, i'm with you, I love MTX amps.
you know what i should do, i should get 8 speakers and a sub for that 5 channel..muahaha...
maybe 4 speakers and 4 sperate tweeters or something...
anyways, i was just thinking about that 4 channael 564 because i was trying to use the maximum output on it...meaning getting it to be 2 ohm stereo load on two channels using 4 speakers...
i'll have to do some more research on this setup and sound stadgeing then...
