Seperate amp for FRONT sub, not rear sub???

I have a question, I have a subwoofer (10" 4-ohm") setup in the back trunk of my car. I am adding a subwoofer up front in the center console, but the sub is going to be 8-OHM, do I have to get a smaller single channel amp for that sub, or can I get another amp that will power that sub and the other component speakers, etc?? I would like the rear trunk to be seperate from the front stuff. The amp in the back is a single channel amp as well. The sub up front will be a 6.5" Rockford Fostgate HE Punch and I think 8-ohm...

thanks for the help!!!

you can get a single channel or a 4 channel. if you use the 4 ch you can use the front output for the components and the rear channels bridge to the sub.

So I would be better off just using 3 amps. For ease of use? A single for the rear sub, a single for the front sub, and a two channel or higher for the mids/highs right?

the easier way would be to get a 4 channel and use the front 2 channels for the mids and bridge the rear 2 for the sub

Dude, just read the turorials already. No offense, but a lot of your questions are basic and are covered in the stickies. Again, no offense, so don't take any or flip out about it, I'm just offering some helpful advice.

I'm not familiar with that sub, you might want to look up the model # and check the specs and requirements.

However I am assuming it is probably no more than 150 watts and runs at either 4 or 8 ohms.

You mention having component speakers. Do you have one pair (front) or two pairs (front and back). Regardless of whether they're components or not is whether or not you plan on "amping" them i.e. hooking up each side to an amplifier channel i.e. left front = 1 channel, right front = 1 channel, left back = 1, right back = 1

If that's the case I would look in to a five channel amp. They will usually have something like 50x4 and then a subwoofer channel for small subs.

Or if you are only planning on having one pair of speakers amp + the front sub, you could probably just use a 4 channel, 2 channels powering the components and bridge the other 2 remaining channels and hook your sub up. However if you end up doing that I urge you to get a better understanding of what exactly your sub and amp can do impendance (ohms) wise.

Hope that helps a little.
