My aluminum wheels on the 7 have black spots where it looks like the brake dust left uncleaned(for too long in my opinion) stayed. Apparently the previous owner while really good and taking care of the engine and mechanical stuff wasn't into having a clean car all the time . Any ideas on some sort of product that would clean the wheels throughly and then a something to protect them from further damage?

i would try a mild wheel acid (i am a auto detailer) most detail shops have this acid be careful though do not let it sit on the wheels to long for it can take off the clear coat after that you can just use a regular wax ( i know this is a lot of work) but if you do this once in awhile it will help the life of your wheel color

oh yeah man absolutely, you need a powerful cleaner and oxidation remover then you need to protect it. im guessing you put a protection on top of your wheels and air causing oxidation curred to the metal and also posibly not cleaning the breakdust off enough before protecting it. my reccomendation is that you go to this site Sheen Genie :: The Latest Advancement in Metal Polishing Compounds! check them out they hve exactly what you need!
