height adjustable suspension care
Is it best to spray a lubricant on the thread body to prevent the threads from chewing each other up? The downside I see by using a liquid type spray, is it will attract all forms of junk (such as sand), which will just chew up the threads anyway, which will make using the lubricant pointless in the end.
If you look at the suspension, as you rotate the height adjustable collar, the thread is under load, so I assume that eventually the thread might destroy itself after repeated adjustment without lubricant. My sisters Mag Lite's end cap thread is basically ruined (the aluminium threads are chipped & rough & just barely work) because she never lubricated it, & if you look at this as an example, the Mag Lite thread does not take as much load as a car suspension thread.
Is there a dry type lubricant you can use? When I used to be into mountain biking, I used a dry type lubricant on my chain, called Krytech made by Finish Line. It went on in a liquid, but it dried up & looked all the world like melted candle wax. This lubricant was ok, but liquid still worked better for my chain. The downside I see to a dry lubricant is that the thread will probably just wear/flake (whatever) the lubricant off. Can you use graphite powder?
