Rear Tires Wearing on Inside?????
Needing some advice after my car has just came from the garage. I've been told that the inside tread of my rear tires are wearing and need to be replaced.
I have put brand new 17" alloys and tires on my car which still has the origional suspension fitted and have only driven around 4000 miles???
The camber looks out from the rear and I was wondering if it is adjustable or has something more sinister hapened to my car I've had it for 1 year and it drives fine? It's a '98 Civic 1.4i.
Any advice would be most appreciated as I don't want to have to keep replacing tires every 4 months!!!!!

You pry have to look into camber plates, cuz I dont think your car has adjustable camber on the stock suspension setup.

Would they be expensive/easy to fit. Don't mind getting my hands dirty but not wanting to make the problem worse!

Dont buy any off brand Ebay ones, cuz theyll just break. Youll pry have to spend between $100-$200 for a name brand set. I have been puttin mine off for a long time now, and I go thru tires within a few months every time.

So I'm best leaving it to the guys in the garage then! Sounds an expensive repair don't blame you for putting it off, might do the same for now! But I'll get quotes first.
Thanks for the advice though!

your alignment is off.
no need for camber plates. your suspension is stock so just go get an alignment.

Yeah...Don't think it'll be practical if you can't adjust your alignment on a stock suspension.

Most likely because of a wrong TOE setting. Take it to a an alignment shop and have them set the TOE to 0. Negative camber will eat tires but it takes a lot of negative camber and it will take a while. If the toe is off by just a bit it will chew your tires up in no time.

it is toe that is eating up his tires not the camber. negative camber is not necessarily a bad thing but excessive toe is.

Additionally the vehicle's toe is one of the most critical alignment settings relative to tire wear. A toe setting that is just a little off its appropriate setting can make a huge difference in their wear. Consider that if the toe setting is just 1/16-inch off of its appropriate setting, each tire on that axle will scrub almost seven feet sideways every mile! Extend it out and you'll discover that rather than running parallel to each other, the front tires will scrub over 1/4-mile sideways during every 100 miles of driving! Incorrect toe will rob you of tire life.

im running about -2.8 to -3 camber in the rear and my toe is 0. ive driven on my tires for more than 4-5k and they still look fresh.

as an autocrosser who drives back and forth to work 90 miles a day and accumulates over 35,000 miles a year on my setup with -3 degrees front and -2.75 degrees rear, and 0 toe all around, i can attest that it most likely will be toe that eats up your tires... never needed to get new tires in all that time (16" all seasons for winter daily driving/15" falken azenis rt615 for racing season/daily driving)
but in any case, you're going to get an alignment and any decent shop would set both camber and toe, not to mention caster, if applicable to factory specs... my shop sets it to what i want...

how many times has this been covered?
A NON-ZERO TOE SETTING CAUSES PREMATURE TIRE WEAR, NOT NEGATIVE CAMBER!!!
for all you folks recommending him to get a camber kit, you guys need to brush up on your suspension knowledge and do some reading. start w/ the faqs and do some searches before further posting.

haha tell them. Yes, its a bit frustrating when people suggest camber kits when camber is barely on the negative side.
