3 questions about the b20's

ok i am really a fan of the crv tec hybrid with a turbo. what is the redline on the b20/vtec with a turbo on it.? i know that it is intended for low to midrange power(cause of the torque). what is the best tranny for the b20/vtec with the turbo, and also why is it that i see some dyno's have a dip around the piont of engagement of vtec, is it that they have something wrong?

i believe its around 6500-7000

BEST tranny is ITR, but SI or GSR will work fine

thats dip is basically honda trying to make vtec feel better than it really is..they make the low cams wind so high that they start loosing power then the high lobes turn on and OH ISH....get a vafc and make it linear

ok thanks for the explaniton. so if redline on them is 6500-7500, shouldn't the vtec engagement point be lower say 5000. and i also here alot of people say that it would not be good as a daily driver. i say someone on here flaming them "if it last 10,000 miles." any takers on this

The dip is from the engine running rich after switch-over. Raise the vtec point to smooth it out.

i dirve my b20vtec everyday to school and wherever else i go....and i find no probs at all....theres another member w/ a b20vtec turbo setup up pushing 311hp and around 250 tq......i think he has been driving it for 4 months w/out probs...if ur goin FI use the GSR tranny gears are longer than a b16 tranny....w/ a b16 tranny u wont build enough boost and i think LS tranny has to long of gear ratio if ur gonna run the VTEC.

I was the one that said see if it lasts 10,000 miles and I wasn't flaming anybody, just saying that for the 2 people on here that have their CR/VTECs running good, I know of about 10 that either run shitty or don't run at all. If you wanna go that route, go ahead. Do your research and make your own decisions. Just remember, I (and a few others) told you so. 2 of my friends have found out the hard way that LS/VTECs just aren't for daily drivers.

i have a choice between 2 ways to go. i know i want to go forced induction. Either b20/vtec or a b18c1 that has block gaurd, not sure which one would be better. i here good and bd about both. i may bo with the b18c1 cause i here that is is good with out all the money being invested. if what i conclude , it would bee better in terms of daily driven, but ran kinda hard. the torque shouldn't be to much of a different between. any comments?

If it's going to be daily driven, get the B18c without a doubt.
