B16 into 6th Gen Civic - Discussion
I figured there would be a lot more discussion on this swap than any other since civics are the most modified Hondas and this engine was actually designed for this car! Anyway, in case there are a few more of you out there with 6th Gens that are thinking about doing or have done this swap that just haven't said anything, I wanted to create this post for us
If you have anything at all to say about:
-Cost
-typical problems
-install / running tips
-general (dis)satisfaction with the swap
-reccommendations/"I would have done differently"s
-Questions
Share them here

I'll start -
B16a2 vs B16a3 - can someone confirm that these are the Del Sol and Si motors respectively?
Which one is better/easier and do both require ECU and/or wiring changes?
all i have to say is read the sig jdm b16a second gen sir 3200 for full swap 450 for flywheel 300 for clutch and i got free cam gears plus the skunk obd2-obd1 harness runs great pulls on gsr's runs out to 8500 befor hitting rev limiter and i love the sound i hits vtec and screams all the way from 5800-8500 no problems with it will never regret it

with my last VTEC engine.....i beat a 99 GSR and a 97 GSR...both with mods....but my brother has a STOCK 95 GSR NOOOOO mods.......*he is married and expecting a child, and he sold his hybrid and is no longer with us*.....
a GSR powered civic "hatch" with basic mods runs 13's.......
your accord "wagon" must have alot of mods......
ummm wrong.
may be with los of mods...
but for example, my gf has a gsr powered civic...it weighs about 2500lbs. it has a gsr engine. if it was a hatch it might weight 2200-2400 lbs. its pretty quick too...a gsr weighs 2700 lbs.
500lbs does not take a care from mid to low 15s to high 13s....
but my wagon puts down more power to the ground than a gsr engine even makes. it weighs in around 3300-3400lbs with me in it. 176hp and 152ft/lbs of torque...and this was shutdown at 6900rpm instead of running all the way to rev limiter. my mods consist of a CAI and exhaust.
hell i even got video of me putting 2 car lengths on a 5th gen lude with i/h/e, and that was with me and a friend in the car...adding another 200lbs.
anyway, back to the b16a dealio....i think they are great engines when they are built up a lot, but stock they ar ejust too weak to worry about.
ok gsr 170 hp and i beleiv elike 133 lbs ft of tq at 2600lbs
jdm sir2 170hp and 116 lbs ft of tq at 2300 lbs add aluminum flywheel and clucth intake and an exhaust and wala you are pulling from a b18c1 with i/h/e the guy is my girls ex we know ech other he wil admitt it it is no big deal giving the guy who posted what he can expect

The miserly VX weighs the lightest with a 2,094-lb curb weight, with the CX not far behind at 2,108 lbs, the DX at 2,178 lbs and the Si weighing a portly 2,390 lbs. (The DX Coupe, by comparison, weighs in at 2,234 lbs, with the EX Coupe at 2,390 lbs.) The VX and CX are plastered with less sound-deadening materials than the DX or especially the Si. Otherwise, the difference in weight has to do with lighter wheels on the VX, lack of air conditioning and, on the DX, additional small items like an adjustable steering column, and cargo cover, so by buying any of those three models with plans to modify them, you are starting out on fairly equal ground.
i am apart of the rydesunlimited race crew in NYC...
one of our members has a 93 civic SI...with no weight reduction...
and a 2000 GSR motor...with the GSR odb1 ECU.....he has intake and i think that is all......and he ran 14.1 best time that day...and i think his worst was 14.7.......
remember that was an S1...no weight reduction.....
it is pretty quick not quick enough for me i am working on valve train net so i can rev to 10 k but yeah as soon as it hits 6k it jus pulls all the way to 8500 i love it the flywheel is by far the best mod i have done

the B16A's are fast...i was just curious about ur mods....
i know a 96 coupe with a SIR2 with a GSR tranny with a ITR intake manifold and full exhaust and headers....and he ran 14.6///....that is impressive to me....and i have seen B16's runnin 16's....
