B16B swap question

I just recently bought a 00 B16B complete package and got few questions that I can't seem to find a solid answer through my search.

Just to let you know, this swap is going into 00 Civic Hatchback Dx with P/S, AC, 5 speed manual

1. This package includes ECU and engine harness and I'm guessing both of them are from the CTR.
Q. Can I use the CTR ecu on my car ? many people said they have used a Si harness to eliminate some of the wirings but why do i need it if it comes with the harness already ?
Q2. If I can't use the ECU (PCT), can I use my stock ECU or do I need to get some other ECU ? if so what do you recommend ?

Thanks in advance

you can use your stock harness. you will just have to wire up vtec.. dont use your stock ecu. you could use a gsr,si, or get a p28 chipped if you didn't want to use the ecu that came with the swap

hey thanks for your reply. I think i'm going to use the 99-00 Si harness to eliminate some of the wirings needed and use the CTR ecu that comes with the package.

If you're getting a complete engine harness (From engine, through the firewall, to the ECU) and OEM ECU, why NOT use the harness they give you?

My friend had a B16B in his '98 EX, and whatever harness was used, there were no extra wires ran at all. It was a complete/untouched oem harness. Granted it may have been an Si harness, I'm not positive, but I would be that it was the b16B harness he received with the swap.

In my opinion, people make wiring harder to be than it should. If you have the full and uncut harness from engine to ECU, just yank out the entire engine harness that is currently in the car, and string through the one with the swap. Clean and oem-like.

The other issue with using your DX harness is, I think your car is obd2-b, meaning it would have different ecu clips than the obd2(a) JDM ecu. I may be wrong, but it just saves a headache to use the harness provided with your swap.

99-00 B16B comes with OBD2B ECU. I could use the OEM DX harness but then I'll need to modify my harness, so to eliminate all the headach, I'm goig to be using the 99-00 Si harness ( I could also use the 5 speed EX harness)
Only reason why I can't use the harness that comes with the swap is because it is dsesigned for RHD.
