b18b, which company, need help!!

ok i called sohfast.com and homotorsonline.com about a 94-95 OBDI LS motor. They are both almost exactly the same price shipped. Heres why i need some help, sohfast.com has usdm motors which he said averaged about 80-90,000 miles and hmotorsonline.com has jdm motors which they said averaged aout 35-40,000 when i called and talked to them. Is there something i'm missing or overlooking because it would seem to me to go with the jdm motor because of the mileage?? I'm just not sure, has anyone thought about this??

i always source jdm motors when i do motorswaps. they're cheaper and generally have less mileage. the only thing about jdm motors is that they have no vin's....which COULD get you into trouble if a cop wants to be a dick about things...in which case, you pull out the receipts showing that you purchased a legit motor

i see what you mean, i guess i wouldnt be worried to much about that. I was also told because they have low miles, it means they have been sitting around longer. Should i take this into consideration?? I mean hmotorsonline.com is a reputable company with a startup warranty so my first thought would be that they are still very good motors. I just still dont know what to do

get the JDM motor. They aren't as dogged out. Cleaner and more better maintained. Did a read up on how the japanese take care of vehicles. Good shit!

well with any motorswap, i usually do the 90k tuneup just to give it a fresh start and i've got a reference point. so even if the motor has been sitting for a while, the tuneup really helps. i've only had 3 problems out of all the jdm motors i've worked with, and the startup warranty was honored all three times

because if you can utilize vtec's lift, you'll have an awesome turbo setup....but of course you'd have to cut down the piston compression and valve overlap

LS is best

Dude first of all go with jdm for sure. 10 more hp on the jdms than the usdms....140jdm, 130 usdm???? easi decision.. they are better taken care of, and always less miles because they are so cheap in japan..... second off do ls turbo... the compression on ls is 9.2:1 which is considered low compression so u can run double the boost almost.. if u wanna beat people off the line torque is where its at and ls has as much torque as gsr... plus vtec utilizes ur powerband, but u wont have to worry about ur band with a turbo because thats when the boost will kick, turbo compresses your valve springs too much which means bad for the vtec... the only problem with ls is ur redline is 6800 which can easily be changed if u build the head with new valves spring and retainers.....all in all ls turbo is the easiest way to get into 12s hands down
