b20/vtec Redline?

What would my redline be after doing the swap of b20z block with b16a2 (99 civic si) head?

depending on well you built the engine, then you can push 8k....sometimes even up to 9k with the block girdle.

the thing about the frankenstein's powerband is that the power is concentrated in the low end...so yes, contrary to our high revving disposition with the b16a/b18c, you don't have to rev past 6-7k to feel the pull...

btw, ive rode in jayman's car and his just pulls from the get go...

if using the B16A ECU then the redline would be that of the head and computer. though i wouldn't rev the block that high since it's designed for low rpm power and torque.

you can use the B16A ECU and shift at 7K or low 7's to play it safe most of the time. then rev it to 8K when at the track or when you need to push it.

The redline should be the same as the vehicle the B20 came out of (cr-v). The bottom end of the engine is what determines how fast you can spin the motor. If it is stock , spinning it to the Si-r ecu redline is inviting a spun bearing or rod problem. They set the redline at the factory where it is for a reason. Product testing tells them what the limits of the motor most commonly are.

this is all correct, the block is not made to be revved as high as the head and you can only rev as high as the lowest tolerance so I'm afraid you gotta keep the revs to about 8 or below but on the other hand this is where all the power lives on the b20/vtec and LS/vtec, they're made for their torque and torque is found in the low end, and for daily driving you really shouldn't be revving nearly that high anyways
