B20 within a B18?

my original plan was to put a B20 in my civic, but it is illegal in california to do so since they are not in the same class. what if i put the B20's pistons and rods in a B18B2 engine?(non-vtec) will i get a 2.0 displacement or would i still get 1.8?

I thought California's law stated that you can put anything in as long as it's the same or newer year of the car which has nothing to do with "class"? For example if your car is 1999 model year, you can put an engine that's 1999 or newer. I could be wrong, ask a tune shop near you or better yet, flag down a cop and ask him.

there are 3 basic rules...
1. must be in the same class. GWVR must be within a range.
2. the engine is suppose to be the same year as the car or newer
3. the engine must come from a low emission vehicle.

i don't quality because fo rule 1

b20 pistons are too big to put into a b18 block. however if you use the ls intake manifold and header i believe the b20 block is basically identical to the b18 block as long as the tech doesn't check the engine code.

If you have the money, put new sleeve in the B18B (GE sleeve..84mm) and put 84mm piston in it!
The stock sleeve will not last long if you oversize them to 84mm.
and.....it's B18B1 not B18B2.......

Just drop the B20B in. TurboB20EK is right. If the car passes smog with all of your smog attachments attached, then you souldn't even worry about it. Check this out, I gotten pulled over by a cop in my city and he told me to pop the hood, I said, " Damn, I'm jacked because of my turbo system in my civic." He looked at my car and said, "what is that in your car, an intake system ??" I said, yeah, its new, just came out. The cop was so dumb, I should've said, " no sir, that my new air conditioning unit. " Anyways, If I were you, I wouldn't even think about boring out a B18 series motor. Your just wasting time and money. Do me a favor and drop the thing in.

When you say "visually", what exactly do you mean? Like what do they look for on visual? If I were to put a JDM GSR motor in a 95 civic hatchback would I just tell em that it's the stock motor? What visual things will they look for on the motor? Do you have to add anything to a JDM motor to make it look like a USDM motor?

what are you tryin to do take it to the dmv and get it to pass some kind of inspection, the only thing i know of is if you see the ref. and then i dont thin a ls vtec would pass but you should search for some one who has one i think your reading to far into it you will be ok as long as your car passes smog bro. and if you uncle can do it you got i made , there is no need for a dmv inpection there is tons of hybrids lke my self roaming the Cali streetz .... goodluck bro, if your uncle is smogging your car then no big deal he prob dont even car about the visual..
