hybrid integra

I'm swapping a b16a engine into my 95 integra LS, and I'm trying to figure out which tranny I can put in it, while using my stock axles. I need something high rev. Also, anyone know what separates a type-r tranny from a GSR or B16 tranny? (other than the LSD?)

Thanks,
Blase

why do you want to put a 1.6 engine in there, you could just put the B16 head on your ls block, puts out GSR numbers. OR you can get a GSR motor which goes to 8100 rpm and more about 8500 safely.

Type R and B16 trannys have closer gear ratios which mean they are quicker than the GSR tranny.

Well, actually it's a 1.9L b16. (Bored and sleeved to 85mm.) It redlines at 11.

To refine my question, is there some sort of quality difference between the type R tranny and a b16 tranny? Why is the TypeR so much more expensive and sought after?

Keep in mind all B-series trannys are interchangeable with any B-series engines.

Here is a website with all the gear ratios/tranny names. You can check out the differences yourself.
http://www.bseries.net/html/specs/btrannyspecs.php

It depends on the setup that you want to go with, for turbo id go with the LS(S80/Y80) tranny because of its longer gears, and for N/A applications a tranny with short gear ratios will aid you to reach those high rpms ie; b18c5/b16/b18c1 trannys

try and snag a JDM b16 or b18c1 because they're LSD equipped

From what I read on another post...

Aside from the LSD, the Type R tranny is supposedly stronger than the S4 (b16 tranny). It has a larger bell and is beefier.

Keep in mind your application. If your main concern is racing then by all means go for the shorter gear ratios. But if your on the freeway quite a bit your might want to really consider the GSR tranny because it starts to get annoying when your cruising in 5th at 80 mph and your tach reads 4500 rpm.
