Clutch issues?? Help!

Hey whats up guys...i havent posted here in awhile ive been so busy with work and school but lately ive been having a problem with my S2k. Its a 2000 with 61,000 miles, i regularly change the oil and tranny fluids. Nothing else has ever really been wrong with the car but the last week ive been noticing this smell. Its kinda hard to explain is not fuel or exhaust fumes or anything, the only other times i have smelled it was when ive dropped the clutch or am really drivin the car hard. I havent really noticed anything else but this damn smell, its almost like something burning but not really. So i think it might be coming from the clutch? But im not sure....if anybody knows what this is or has had a similar problem, please reply. I dont mean to make a book out of this, but im tryin to give as much info as possible. Oh and the only mods are exhaust, test pipe, and intake. Thanks for any help guys i appreciate it.

well your clutch puts off a very nasty odor when it slips or burns. Its hard to explain but it is VERY disgusting smelling. Its possible that its your clutch, is it slipping any??

it sonuds like your clutch is about done. You will smell it when your shifting hard or backing up a lot. Put it in fifth or sixth gear and get up to about 3-4k rpms and go uphill and floor it. If it slips when going up the hill then your clutch is about done and its time to get a new one

yup, and one of those worst possible spot is on a freeway junction! my car lost power on the turnabout, of Capital 50 and I5, i went from 65, to 55, floored it..no go..then soon, i was not getting anypower, pulled to side, and tried to put it back to first, then drive..NOTHING! GAHHHHH! had to get towed one hour home .. thanks to AAA =) for no cost lol

so yeah, moral of the story, get your clutch fixed! before this happens!

i waited prolly two weeks or less, from the time i started to noticed my clutch slipping..

Just out of curiosity, what'd you guys pay in parts/labor for a clutch R&R? Been thinking about upgrading mine to a high performance peice... but they're already pretty costly, and the mechanic I use tells me about $500-600 in labor.

I'd do it myself (as I normally tend to do all my work), but I'm kind of afraid to do anything under my S2K in my garage, because it just sits too low. So low I cant put it on jackstands, so I gotta use the shitty scissor jack that comes in the trunk. And figure since that thing sucks ass, it's highly probably that the car will fall off it when I'm under it, dropping out a tranny or something. I'd rather just take it somewhere and get it on a lift. I should just buy a lift, call it a day. lol
