I remember reading in a Honda Tuning issue about a guy that did a ITB setup on his ap2. the ITB was the only thing he did, and he was runing AEM EMS for tuning. I think the HP gain was about 25hp.

ITB's are a huge pain in the ass, and I would highly recommend NOT installing them on a street-driven, and definitely not daily driven, vehicle. Not to say it cant be done, only that it will cause many drivability problems, mostly at idle.

I looked into doing a setup for my S2K a while back... I got some used throttle bodies from a Hayabusa motorcycle... then had a stock S2K intake manifold cut and welded to the throttles. Mechanically, I could have gotten it to work. But as far as tuning and drivability goes, it's a total nightmare even when running a standalone management system. I still have the parts, I can post some pics if you like.

But... if you're still interested in learning as much as you can... check the FAQ for two incredibly helpful links, or you can click this one below:

My DIY Individual Throttle Bodies Project

This thread is probably the best info you'll find on modding ITBs to fit on a honda motor. Keep in mind, that it's all just theory and I dont think Blake ever got it working right, and the project was abandoned. But you can find a TON of good info in there, so it's a good starting point. That thread focuses on building an H22 Prelude, not an S2K... but the principles are the same and can be applied to basically any FI motor.

thanks for the insight....I am gonna do some more reading but I think if its gonna be that big of an issue especially with tuning I might figure something else out

ITBs are beasts. They look like gold, sound like gold, produce like gold, and costs almost as much as gold. I looked into the Tracy Sports set a while ago along with a couple others for mine. Yeah, they kinda wreck the drivability of the car. I think Clone touched on that when I was asking the same questions back then. I'm pretty sure you will need an EMS tune for your engine to work right.

Not only that, but there will no longer be any filtration element to keep dirt and debris out of the engine. If you drive the car on a regular basis, I would immagine your cylinder walls will become scored and gauled quickly depending on driving conditions. If I recall, someone here pointed out that you can get little filter-booties to go over the horns, but at that point, why bother? . . . I supose you could take them off for show purposes, and keep them on for driving.

Hot stuff.

yeah I found a set for 1300 dollars but I am leaning against it now....just due to the massive amounts of tuning they involve just to get them to idle correctly.....and really for not that much of a hp gain....yeah they look cool....but weighing my options I would be better off rebuilding the shortblock to a lower compression and boosting
