Looking at getting an s2k

But I've just got a few questions. For about 6 weeks now, I've been looking, and finding tons of different answers. Does anyone know the 0-60 time on the s2000? And what should I expect to pay for an 01-02 s2000?

AP2 are quicker but I agree with gansedrifto1. Don't waste your time with 8krpm, you want a S2k so get the AP1. I got my 03 S2k for only $15k from this one old dude that had it garage with only 30k miles. That was a deal

I'm on my third AP1. Traded my '00 to an '03, wrecked that one a few weeks ago, and just picked up a beautiful Suzuka '03 with 9,000 miles certified and all that for $19k.

AP1/AP2, it's all personal preference in my opinion. I've heard both sides of the story from people who really get into these cars and race them. There are so many flame threads out there regarding which is better we really don't need to oxygenate the coals anymore.

Depends on how much money you have/want to spend. Like anything aftermarket, there is quality and garbage. Quality costs a lot of money but is well worth the price you pay in the end. The S2k is basically tuned nearly to the max right out of the box. Suspension, brakes, handling, engine, exhaust . . . it's all done very very very well. One of the reasons the car got and is still getting such raving reviews from the press.

Boosting will grant you the world on a silver flywheel if done correctly.

Back to the subject at hand, if the mechanicals and body are in good shape and mileage is reasonable, I'd expect to pay anywhere between $12k-$18k depending on the above and if it were a certified dealership sale or private deal. Make sure you know what you're getting between the two model years. Honda made some minor changes with the car between '01 and '02.

I've actually got an August '03 issue of Car and Driver. 0-30 1.8, 0-60 5.4, 1/4 mile 14.1 @99mph. Braking 70-0 161 ft. Skidpad .92g, Emergency lane change 66.2 This is on the AP1. HIghs: Sensual intensity right up there with grabbing a bare high-voltage wire, clutch and gear shifter as perfect together as Rogers and Astaire, cockpit fits like your favorite jeans Lows: Freeway cruising, and resisting the impulse to rip off nine-grand shifts in bursts of five. Verdict: A four-wheeler with crotch-rocket DNA. And of course, the S2000 finished 1st beating the BMW, Audi, Nissan and Porsche in this test. "the most intense open two-seater you can buy south of Ferrari prices. Its flick-quick reflexes and hummingbird metabolism earn a special place in every enthusiast's dream fleet. The wheel has that just-right nearly vertical presentation, so you can straight-arm the wheel Stirling Moss-style." I wish I had time to type out the whole article. It's awesome. Okay more. "Think intensity. Think fury. Think....could I stand this is an only car? for sure, only an extremist would love it as an interstate cruiser. And yet, and yet....so much excitement for a fraction of Porsche and BMW prices. Actually, the Honda's interior details, particularly the leather wheel, look richer than the Porsche's.

i totally agree with this write up about the ap1. when tha ap1 came out i was estatic bout Honda producing a sports car with a relatively low cost compared to the NSX. the stats were amazing but with the release of the ap2 and finding out that they lowered the rev limit i was a bit turned off by that fact and even tho it looks better, performance is key when referring to s2k's. now i test drove an ap1 and instantly fell in love with it. only reason i didnt get it was cuz my parents were paying for the car i was getting and with my past driving record, DEF. wasnt goin for tha s2k lol...but i give 2 thumbs up for ap1 even tho both the ap1 & ap2 are contenders in performance
