S2K WRECKED!!
Wrecked my car tonight (Friday). What started out as a perfect night cruise downtown ended in disaster as I left the Kilbourn Tunnel entering the freeway. Lost control, car ricochayed off the walls a couple times before coming to rest. The eingine still ran fine, and could drive it for a while to get out of traffic, but the front end is gone. Airbags deployed. The car is most likely totaled.
As for me, I am very thankful that I walked away from it completely unskathed. No bruises, no scratches, nothing. Didn't even loose my glasses (or dinner).
I'll find out in a couple days what the insurance company will do.
I cannot immagine any better way to look at it than this:
The S2000 is just a car. There are plenty more of them for me to buy.
There is only one me, and if I am wrecked, then there is no more.
Maybe in the future I'll buy another S2k.
Paul

The really funny thing is I was going to start buying stuff to Supercharge it. I had a Vortech kit in sight, and I was talking to an S2Ki vendor about a built diff, and on the same day earlier, I had talked with the local tuner shop about the other components that would go into it. The build would have been upwards of $9,000.
I guess that's God's way of saying "No."

Thanks guys.
Naw, S14s are nice, but I like My S2000. In fact I like it so much that I don't think I'd want any other car. Ive driven a bunch of different stuff out there, and I like the S the best.
I'll argue my points to the insurance apprasers and hopefully they won't rule it a total loss. If that be the case, I already have plans for the direction I want to take it. (I'll keep that to myself for now ). If they DO rule it "totaled", then I will just have to buy another one. I'm not going to let something like this walk all over me. I'm a subborn bastard who doesn't let crap like this get me down. If a pesimist I was, I'd never have the drive to summit any of the mountains I climb. THis accident is like a crux in a route. A difficult position, but one that can be worked out. There are multiple directions that I can take and achive the same goal.
The next car may not have the cool LEDs on it, but I can say that I'll be back sometime (hopefully soon) and as strong as ever! I'm not saying goodbie to a great croud like this!
The best thing that came from this is that I'm perfectly fine. I only have God to thank for such a great outcome.

Most people here who own an S2000 know that doing a proper build on this car costs a lot of money due to the fact that the car is tuned so well out of the box, and tuned nearly to the max on top of that.
My intent with the Supercharger was to do a proper build, not just a slap-on-and-go deal. If that's all I wanted, I'd do the install myself for the cost of the SC kit alone. And I could very well have done that. I found a good condition used Vortech with 10K miles for $3100. That's pretty cheep, and a lot less than your used car. (FYI II HUFF II, a new SC kit from Vortech costs about $6,500, and a Kraftwers SC goes for a little more. . . just for the kit.)
But this build had a lot more parts going into it:
Vortech SC,
Hondata K Pro system
S2KPuddydad built differential with 3.91 gears included meant for high-boost cars (FS on S2ki if anyone is interested . . . these diffs have a great rep!).
Stage 2 competition clutch kit
Lightweight fly wheel
Upgraded injectors and harnes
Instalation and tuning done by King Motorsports, which is a very well regarded tuning shop that deals with Honda/Acura primarally (Solely I think), and luky me it is a local shop only 20 min away. Google their website.
The cost adds up really fast.
BUT after recent experiences, I think that my next car will remain NA. I might want to do other upgrades like maybe a test pipe or something to that affect, but it will be be more show than go. That's not to say that this experience has me down, I'm just going to take it easy for a while. I'll learn the car better before I decide to upgrade the power. I'll probably wind up taking a Skip Barber class or something.

Thanks!
While a 240sx might have great potential, I like the 300zx from around that era a bit better. But I'm pretty sure I'm gonna stick with the Honda S2000. No offence to you or anyone who would suggest a German car or American car likewise. I really like the S2000. With all the cars that I've driven sports cars, sedans, wagons, suvs, whatever . . . I like the S2K. And I'm not willing to give up on that.
And while I may be sticking to that specific car, I'm no brand whore, or model whore for that matter either. Which ever car people have their hearts set on, I say good for you and keep at it. The S2000 is my car, Im sticking with it.
