Fallout 3 Goes Gold

Fallout 3 Goes Gold
Bethesda's anticipated RPG to be released on October 28th.
by Jeff Haynes

October 9, 2008 - The wait to explore the nuclear wasteland of post apocalyptic Washington D.C. will soon be over. Earlier today, Bethesda Softworks announced that their anticipated RPG, Fallout 3, has gone gold and will be available in stores and online on October 28 in North America, October 30 in Europe and Australia, and October 31 in the UK for the PS3, Xbox 360 and Games for Windows. Set more than 200 years after a nuclear war, players create a character and explore the wilderness while fighting against dangers like Super Mutants, Ghouls and Raiders.

"Fallout 3 has been the biggest project we've ever undertaken," said Todd Howard, game director for Fallout 3. "It's been a long journey and we're really happy with how it turned out. We can't wait for everyone to get a chance to play it."

Bethesda also released minimum and recommended system requirements for PC today. The minimum requirements are a PC running Windows XP or Vista with 1GB of RAM for XP users, or 2GB of RAM for Vista. A 2.4 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor and DirectX 9.0c video card with 256MB of RAM will also be required (either an Nvidia 6800, ATI X850 or better). Recommended requirements are an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 2GB of RAM, and a DirectX 9.0c Video card with 512MB RAM (either an card from the Nvidia 8800 series or ATI 3800 series). An additional list of supported video card chipsets can be found on the official Fallout 3 website. In development since 2004, Fallout 3 has been rated M for Mature by the ESRB.

Wowzers! Those specs are pretty normal for modern PC games, but even 2 years ago that would've been considered a thumping system.

Progresss is a good thing!
