I've gotten to the 4 hour mark in the game. Supposedly it's a pretty short game, so I'm guessing I must be about 1/2 of the way done. It mixes in real Japanese historical characters & places, with mystical mumbo-jumbo.
Kinda mixes a top down action adventure like Onimusha or Devil may Cry with some tried-n-true RPG elements like shopping at weapons stores & chatting with village folks. The fighting is definitely high on button mashing. Basically you wait until your foe misses or coils to strike and you character is fast enough to beat them to the punch. Then you retreat and do it all over again.
The CG scenes are average for this day and age, but the in-game screens are very colorful and vibrant.
I'd say if you like Onimusha then this would be a good game to pick up. it's only retailing for $39.99 so it's not one of those $50 titles.
BTW: The translations are kinda sketchy

, but it doesn't hurt the enjoyment of the game.
