Got a PS2 for $70!!!
Well I traded my gbasp + charger for my firend used PS2+kingdom hearts+final fantasy VII Advent Children for $70 bucks!!! So guess I have entered the "dark side" since I have been a long Nintendo fan and still am. So do you guys believe thats a good deal? Also, since I'm now part of the ps2 scene, I was thinking about doing the hard drive thing, but I notice that there are a bunch of games that do not work well when trying it. Also has link on "how to do"? One more thing, I only bought the ps2 to play kingdom hearts II when it comes out and Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, so does anyone has any suggestion for good games and I am not planning to play these games online?
I know ima get grand trismo 4, but hows socom III single player and killzone cause its only 15 bucks for used?

if u are talking abotu modchip type things get swap magic, its easy and u can play back ups online...thats what i do although i dont play as much anymore since i got my psp

Well, yea I talking about HD loader actually which is pretty much the same, but how the compatibility with games if I go that route?

HD Loader is the best thing that happened to my PS2 ...many great games are compatible with it..here's a list of what's on my 120 gb HD...

Thanks for the tip man, also can you tell me what type of hard drive you got and where and how much??? Also, is it hard to install the hard drive and set everything up?
BTW, I have Resident Evil 4 for cube, which has better graphics, so im good on that, I might rent it for ps2 to play ada adventure. |

Newegg always offers a good price and deliver their stuff really quick....i wouldn't go with an 80gb because most games are 4gb...that would leave you w/ about roughly 20 games only...so use that link i gave you and grab the 120 gb...when i bought it,it totalled up to 90 bucks...but it appears to me that it has gotten cheaper since that time so if it were me i would go for it...but ultimately it is YOU that will decide. so choose wisely 
edit: if you get it from newegg.com don't pay for any extra other shipping options, just go for the regular shipping. they ship their items out pretty quick.

$70 is what i sold my PS2 at game zone, it's a ripoff cause they turn around and sell it for way more.

All you need is the network adapter, a decent modchip then go and buy a nice HD. I have a 400gb hitachi in my ps2, with a matrix inifinity modchip and the network adapter. I downloaded HDloader and used the matrix to copy HDLoader to a 32meg memory card and haven't had the need to put a disc in unless I'm loading another game. I have close to 100 games on the HD and it's wonderful. It loads HDloader from the mem card then I run the games. It's amazing how much faster it is to load from the HD than the DVD drive.
A modchip makes life much easier, without it you need an official copy of swap magic or hdloader, once you have a modchip everything becomes MUCH easier.

Damn man, how much did that cost you and I thought the limit was like 120gig or lower and I didn't know they made 400gig HD already, WOW! BTW, I was thinking about the modchip route, but I afraid I might break my ps2 with installation, cause with the HD loader, its much more safe. Thanks for the info man! |
