Part 2

Connecting the single and multiplayer modes are experience point rewards and the "Advanced Combat Enhancement and Specialization" or A.C.E.S system. Every action the player takes unlocks new weapons and gear to use. These sorts of rewards over time are becoming more and more common in FPS titles and were well received in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2.

"Players have definitely connected with these rewards," said Key. "There are few things more gratifying in a shooter than simultaneously taking out a terrorist and getting the news you've unlocked some new gear. What is great about the A.C.E.S. system is that it is based on the unique Observe, Plan, and Assault tactics that are required to be successful in Rainbow Six. Experienced players are able to quickly expand their arsenal while less experienced players are subtly coached on the nuances of Rainbow Six combat. The rewards are also racked up regardless of the mode you are playing in. This is a huge benefit for all of our fans as they get to enjoy any mode of the game without sacrificing the ability to continually improve their character."

We hope you enjoyed your stay
Ubisoft's ad campaign for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 began during last year's Spike TV VGA's when the company premiered a teaser trailer for the game. There was also a pre-sell campaign and various cross promotions with Major League Gaming.

"We had successful partnerships with a number of retailers and vendors to promote Rainbow Six Vegas 2," detailed Key. "A key promotion was our pre-sell partnership with GameStop, Comcast and Major League Gaming. GameStop gave away an exclusive Comcast sponsored map based on an MLG tournament venue in the Las Vegas Convention Center. Consumers who reserved their copy early received access to the map. Best Buy and Game Crazy were other stand outs giving away advanced unlockable assault rifles."

The title also saw various in-game advertisements, and though they were added in the name of realism, some reviewers took a dim view of their existence.

"Realism is an important aspect for all of our games and we are very conscious about ensuring advertising fits naturally into the overall experience," Key continued. "As you can imagine, a setting like Las Vegas opens up a lot of creative in-game advertising opportunities. What was great about the Major League Gaming and Comcast ads is that they were actual representations of an MLG event set up at the Las Vegas Convention Center."

While it appears as though Rainbow Six has finished its stint in Sin City, there are few doubts that the multinational counter-terrorist organization will return. Ubisoft has been churning out Clancy games like there's no tomorrow, and given the level of success level of Rainbow Six Vegas 2, it looks to be only a matter of where and when, not if.
