In my experience driving at the dragstrip with your type of car in order to get the best times possible on street tires, this is what your gonna have to do.

1)rev to about 3500
2)ease out on the clutch, the car will barely start moving
3)hammer down and rev it out as high as you can BEFORE your engine's powerband starts to drop
4)powershift and shift confidently

I've tried a bunch a different ways and this was the most productive, clutch dump are unproductive on street tires because your not putting any power to use. Off the line he will get you by 1 to 2 car lengths, you will have to catch him in 2nd and pass in 3rd if you have enough power.
