BEST $25 SPENT!!!
yesterday was one of the funest days i've had in a while! i attended a little event called REV IT UP! it was sponsored by chevy here in orlando, fl at disney's epcot center's parking lot. for $25 i got to drive a corvette, the new sc cobalt ss, trailblazer and new impalla! not only did i get to drive them, i was allowed to slam on the gas and abuse these cars with no issues. i got to do a some what 1/4 mile in the trailblazer and the impala. maybe half a quarter or less. but still, i got to smash the throttle and feel its 6.0 v8's power! the trailblazer was pretty impressive. then i got to go around a track two times in the ls2 corvette. not the z06, but still had 400 hp and torque! fun!!!!! the best was driving the cobalt. i got to do a time attack in the cobalt ss witch they put i/h/e and suspension. i was quite impressed for its n/a 2.4. my best time was 40. something seconds. that was 490 points. but test driving the supercharged cobalt was more fun. the only thing was it redlined to quick, like 6500rpms i think. i was used to my gsr so i took off and was hitting some turns when all of sudden i looked down and the needle was bouncing off the tack like crazy! oops! lol. glad it wasnt my car! lol. anyways, i was so much fun. i was there for like 6 hours! i recomend any of you guys to go if this event comes to your town. believe me it will be the best $25 you'll ever spend! i will post pics as soon as i can, out....

by the way, i just found out that one of friend's friend from work came in at 3rd place overall! there was atleast over 500 people there, easy. so he competed in the top 20 in the z06 corvette! the first competion was in cobalts which i came in 2nd of the group of friends that went. lol. but this mofo is a serious racer, he's been racing for over 20 years in every type racing you can think of from moto to rally, whatever, he's done it.. he drives a old subaru that's boosted like crazy. i asked what would he do if he wins the corvette and he said he'd sell it and buy an sti and hook it up. lol. well, i still dont know how he did because i had left before he competed again. so i will inform you guys later if he has a vette for sale.
Thats wicked dude...glad you had fun and I def wouldnt mind trying that sometime. Those Cobalts are pretty quick though arent they ?

yeah they are, even the regular n/a one is. well it did have i/h/e and a 2.4 under the hood. but i defenitly wouldnt mind getting the ss supercharged one if i was shopping for a new car. not only is it pretty quick, the interior was pretty nice and came with a nice stereo system.

yeah, my boy who told my about the event in the first place went last year to the mazda one. i wonder if every year they have a different manufactuer sponser the event. and as for abusing someone elses's car, man oh man, i never felt so much joy in driving a car that wasnt mine! i pushed every one of those cars and was always wondering if i was going to get kicked out! lol.
I've been to a similiar event before threw Toyota/Lexus... They usually send me an email to RSVP a spot. I dont remember how but a long time ago I registered for some things on there website using my VIN when I had my Lexus and now they always email me promotional events.

you guys can also go autocrossing at a number of locations throughout the country and a multitude of times throughout the year, but then you'd have to use your own cars...
but then the majority of guys who spend all their money on high end performance parts are too scared of scratches and wear and tear to actually push their cars in anything but a straight line...
but those who do have the biggest smiles on their faces and become better and better at driving at the limit...
it's great to see rev it up doing so well over the last couple of years...
it gets people to let go (sort of) of their overly cautious selves when it comes to diving into a corner (rather than just a straight line).

depends on which car i was in line for. the longest was like an hour for the time trial in the cobalt ss. but every thing else was like 15 min to 30 min max. every thing probably would of went smoother if it had'nt rained in the beginning and delay everything. but being wet made it more fun! also, all the cars had hankook tires on them, they were one of the sponsers as well. they handled pretty well for the wet conditions. i was suprised.
mazda had a similar event at englishtown, NJ called zoom-zoom live, but that one is FREEE!!!!!
needless to say, i beat the balls off the brand new mx-5's and rx-8's. i abused the miata a lil too much and spun out twice in the same run, so we got kicked out
but it was free so it didn't matter
