Honda to launch in UK (RA108 F1)

Honda to launch in UK

Date 2007-12-20

By Nikki Reynolds - Motorsport.com

Honda has announced that the launch of its new car, the RA108, will take place at the team's Brackley headquarters in the UK on January 29th. Race drivers Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello will be on hand for the unveiling, as will CEO Nick Fry and new team principal Ross Brawn.

Honda had a rather dismal 2007 campaign, scoring only six points courtesy of Button, but pulled off rather a coup when it announced that Brawn would be joining as principal. The former Ferrari technical guru was widely expected to return to the Scuderia but decided on a new challenge with Honda. He took up the post at the end of November.

The team's official third driver is yet to be named; Christian Klien departed to pursue a race seat elsewhere and GP2 pilots Mike Conway, Andreas Zuber and Luca Filippi all had a tryout behind the wheel in the early winter tests. Honda is thought to be weighing the pros and cons of a new young driver or someone more experienced.

So far Ferrari is at the head of the launch list, its 2008 challenger due to be revealed at the team's Fiorano track on January 6th. Toyota follows, in Cologne on January 10th, then BMW Sauber in Munich on January 14th, Honda at Brackley on January 29th and Renault in Paris on January 31st.
