Taxi cab drivers worldwide take note — when Michael Schumacher jumps in your car, offer him the chance to take the wheel.
According to a report in England's The Telegraph, the seven-time Formula One World Champion took over for German cab driver Tuncer Yilmaz in an effort to make it to the airport aerodrome in Coburg, which is located in the German state of Bavaria.
Schumacher, his wife, and their two children traveled from their home in Switzerland to the German town of Gehuelz to pick up a new puppy. On their way back to the airport, the former Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro driver thought he was running late, which prompted him to ask Yilmaz if he could take the wheel.
"I found myself in the passenger seat, which was strange enough, but to have 'Schumi' behind the wheel of my cab was incredible," Yilmaz told German newspaper Muenchner Abendzeitung.
Although Schumacher found himself driving a Opel Vivaro, he drove the minivan like it was a Formula One machine.
"He drove at full throttle around the corners and overtook in some unbelievable places," said Yilmaz.
Besides getting first hand driving tips from Schumacher, Yilmaz also was rewarded with a $167 tip on top of the $100 fare.
Schumacher's representatives confirmed the story.
