Super Aguri's future still in doubt (f1)

Super Aguri's future still in doubt
Wednesday 5th March 2008

The future of the Super Aguri F1 team remains in doubt after team boss Aguri Suzuki refused to confirm whether recent talks with Honda had secured the team's place on the 2008 grid.

Although Super Aguri recently denied reports that the team wouldn't compete this season, Aguri's refusal to talk about his meeting with Honda has once again fuelled the rumours.

Asked by Autosport whether he would divulge any information about the meeting, which is believed to have reached an impasse between the former driver and Honda, Aguri said: "We have got nothing new to say."

This doesn't bode well for the team, who reportedly don't have the funds needed to see out the 18-race 2008 Championship. Nor is the Japanese outfit having any success securing investors.

According to Autosport, two investors were on the cards, one being British consultancy firm Magma Group, who were ready to table a deal for a takeover in equity in the team. Aguri, though, rejected the deal while Honda reportedly said no to the second investor, of is believed to have been of Japanese origin.

Super Aguri have less than two weeks in which to resolve their financial issues as the new F1 season begins on March 16th in Australia.
