damn, is that right? Did I just read that the GT-R beat the SC430 by 26 seconds? I've read that GT is going to impose a rule change by the next round so that the GT-R won't be dominating this season onward

I bet they wait until the next testing period to see how the ballast effects the times of the field. Also I'm not sure under what circumstances they gained the 25+ on the rest of the field (speaking of the 1st & 2nd place cars).

But if it's a legit time differential, then yeah I'm in agreement that the GT Assoc. will have to do something about the competitive disadvantage. It's still a formula series after all.

I just read the race recap. The 3rd place grid starter spun out and damaged his GT-R (so Nissan had 1-3 places at the front of the grid). This let the first two GT-R's open up a 5+ second gap to the field.

Later the repaired Calsonic GT-R came back to the race and clocked the fastest lap time!

So me thinks the Nissans = light speed fast!

weight ballast is definitely coming per the rules but I've read that GT Association might overhaul their rule books to curb the GT-R's pace

It makes sense that the GT-R is fast. It is the newest car after all. I know all the cars are constantly developed but having the newest developed from the ground up car has definitely given Nissan the upper hand. It's also good to see the Amemiya RX-7 get a win after going winless last year. Here's some photos from the race.

^ I'm not so sure about that. Even if it's the newest model car, the teams are still forced to fit within a specific race forumla. For example the NSX teams were the fastest last year even if the platform is an elderly one.

or when Toyota first started using SC430 as their GT500 car, they didn't immediately open a big f'ing can of 26seconds advantage on the first race

so there's only a 1 second difference between the gt300 1st place and gt500 1st place?

wut? The time after the GT500/300 winners is in hours if that is what you mean.

yeah i read that wrong. i was kinda glossed over at the office when i read that and not totally there upstairs. but still, only a minute difference between the 500 and 300 classes shows something definitely caused a 26 second differential between 1st and 3rd in gt500.

anyone remember the video i posted when jgtc came to america? i have it somewhere online. i think it's somewhere here on superhonda. i'll try to find it later.

The GT300 winner ran 48 laps in the time it took the GT500 winner to run the race distance of 52 laps, so the one minute gap is the time gap between the GT500 winner taking the checkers and the next time the GT300 leader crossed the line to finish their race. I have a video from GT Live that I downloaded from here. It's shot from the grandstand where the drifting course was. Not sure if that's the one you're talking about.

Yup yup. The field isn't frozen, they still need to race back to the start/finish line on the final lap.
