What do you all think? I'm also kind of curious about the environmental impact, as the areas around us where they could use it are pretty pristine. Susan,
Hello from another Bill. I live in Colorado and have had atvs for years, but I would never let my kids ride them. Which they know to be the case in no uncertain terms. One of my neighbors lets his kids ride atvs and two of them have come home in need of medical attention in the last year... but he keeps on letting them ride. I don't get it. They're like 8 and 12, or something like that. And they're definitely making new trails across old (hiking) ones which I have always enjoyed, which bothers me both because of the noise sometimes and the muddy tire tracks across my land. Well, not
my land anymore after I had a talk with their dad, but now I think they're just crossing the neighbors' properties.
ATVs are great, and I'd highly recommend that as long as you and your husband follow the rules, stay safe and keep to established trails you give them a try. But keep the kids off them. We don't let them drive cars for a reason. Same thing goes for atvs - or at least it should be the same. I don't know about you, but I have enough to worry about as a parent already.
My .02c.
