First Bike. Which to choose?

Alright so I'm plannin on buying my first bike before the year ends.
im gonna learn on a junk bike first of course cause i want to buy one brand new and if im gonna drop a bike, i dont want it to be new.
After looking around at the local dealers, I've narrowed my choices down to:

yahama yzf r6s
honda cbr600f4i
kawasaki ninja 650r
and
kawasaki zzr600.

The common opinion i keep hearing is that a 250 or a 500 is good for the first couple weeks and then you need somethin more. So tell me some of your opinions and suggestions.

Muchas Gracias

People say the ninja 250/500 is more of a first bike because they're bikes that most hate to look at, they're still sportbikes and at least when not compared to motorcycles they're moderately quick, the 650R was released with the intention of being a first bike above the 250/500 based on aesthetic appeareance. There is still a huge chance that you will have a bad run-in on whatever motorcycle you're riding even if you've ridden some beginner bike for many months so i suggest that you get the bike you want as long as your choice is reasonable.

YZF R6- I' m also planning to buy my first bike before the end of this year and I have fought myself for weeks to keep my mind away from these beautiful bikes as many people have told me that these are heavily race bred bikes that I should keep away from till I have a little more experience, maybe you might watch me get one and see if I die...if not you can consider it.

F4i- Apparently these are somehow "user friendly" which is indicated on the F4i name and i know a decent amount of people who started out on them and aren't bad riders, I'm a little biased since I'm considering one though.

Ninja 650R- Best choice on this list for a beginner bike since it was built with beginners with mind so it's less aggressive from the engine, riding position and steering. I highly recommend this if you have the money.

Kawasaki Zzr600- Is supposed to be less aggressive than the R's and looks better than the 250/500/650(I judge heavily on looks). Due to the f4i being aimed at the same market, i'd recommend the honda over it.

De nada.

if your looking for something to keep for a while then katana's are pretty good learner bikes, they are not too power full, they handle alright, they are comfortable, but once you get good you can easily start to push that bike to its limits and then you know its time to upgrade

I hear alot of negative things about the Katana but before i pass judgement on it let me ask are they really all that bad? What are its ups and downs?
Other than that i've narrowed my choices down to either the ninja 650r or the zzr600. I like the look of ZZR as much as i like the price tag of the 650R so i'm kinda at a crossroads here.

they are basically a early 90's gsxr engine

you probably hear bad things because guys get them to get a "crotch rocket" then they find out they don't handle as good, and they are very hard to get the front wheel up on, I mean in the sport bike world they suck because they were designed to be more comfortable to ride but still be sporty.

Everyone told me to start out with a 250/500 , i don't understand why you would spend money on such a waste of motorcycle.. if your smart, and know y our abilities and are willing to respect the power in which the cycle has, no bike is too big for you. Its all about your personal comfort level and not exceeding your limits.

I started out on a 98 Honda VFR800FI ... was a great first bike

Yea. I thought about starting off on a 250/500 but after looking around online i saw that it was mostly women riding them. Then when i saw them in person at the dealer i thought heeeeell no i dont want one of those. The salespeople didnt even suggest them. I dont need a rocket but i do need something thats got power when i need it.
I'm leaning more to the Ninja 650R. It seems like its got the best bang for buck quality.

Alrite since im looking to finance one of these machines, ive only really been looking at dealers and ive noticed on the website of a local dealer that they get used R6s pretty often. Now ive heard of a few people getting them as their first bike and not running into too many problems. How hard are they to learn on and what really do you have to watch for when learning on a bike like that? They sell the used ones with few miles for the same price as brand new Ninja 650Rs so what would you do in my place?

I'd suggest that since you live in NJ, land of the highest insurance rates ever, you should probably check to see what sort of full coverage insurance rates you can get before you go trying to finance a race bike.

I remember getting a quote for full coverage on a used CBR600RR a few years back, and it was north of $3000 a year. I currently pay $75 a year for liability on my CB750.

You could look at the 2008 Kawasaki 250r, it's been redesigned and actually looks like a modern sportbike.

http://www.motorcycledaily.com/25sep...ninja_250r.htm

Or there's the new Suzuki GSX650F, it's a full faired bandit 600 replacement with an oil cooled gixxer engine. Should be very comfortable. My sister has an '02 bandit 600 and it's a pretty fun bike. Little top heavy but very comfortable, and the wide handlebars give it really good low speed handling (something modern sportbikes suck at).

Also, you could consider the Suzuki GS500F, full faired standard but it's pretty tame. Think around 35-40hp(?) and a top speed around 105-110mph. I started on one and did pretty good, didn't get into any real trouble and I bashed it a bit hehe.

Cool

yeah 500 is nice but i would say that its fir the begineers and seeing your posts you look to be profesional so go for extra as one tends to get fed up very faster with 500
