On some models the AC controls are located on the door panels. Temperature is selected by how far you rotate the crank and the fan is operated by the long skinny pedal to the far right. The further you depress this pedal, the higher the air flow.

lol I saw someone do that a while back ago here. I was like wtf? and he was cutting everyone off too.
BTW, what's a good beginner bike for me since I'm 6'5? I've heard the ninja 250 and 500 would be too small for me. What about a YZF600R? I'm tempted to start out on a 600RR for the hell of it.

Why on earth would you buy for looks for a beginner bike? Are you a poser? or worse a squid?
You buy a used <500cc bike to LEARN on who cares what it looks like, only a poser or a squid would care what it looks like.
Get a used bike ride it for a year or two. Then get what you want. If you get one used (250/500 can be found everywhere) you can sell it for right around what you bought it for. Just as long as you keep it in good condition. 250/500's are the easiest class of bike to sell. I posted my 500 on Cycletrader and within a day it was sold (for $200 more than I bought it for)

Believe it or not homeboy, lots of people care what cars / bikes look like, whether it's for a beginner or not... i mean for a "beginner" car, I'd take an rsx-s over a z24 calavier anyday cauz the rsx-s looks much better to me but that wouldn't make me a "poser", fag. STFU AND DIAF. if you wanna go ride around town looking like a clown on a mini-bike riding your ninja250, go for it.

I can officially call you a poser/squid now. Only they would answer my post like this.

so you would drive an uglier bike around if you had the choice to get a nicer looking bike for the same price you my friend, are weird. Squid? I don't stunt, I don't do stupid shit, I never bought any parts to dress my gixxer up, the only things I bought were performance parts like sprockets, K&N, and yoshi titanium exhaust. Oh yea, and I wear full gear. Squids don't.
An R1 is the sexiest bike imho, but i'm not going to recommend it as a starter bike just because it looks better than the ninja250/500... but since the katana is in the same league, and in the same price bracket... i'd say get the nicer looking one if you have the choice. with the exception of the 250, the 500 has a 2cyl so each cylinder has a bigger bore... like a v-twin, and so they have high amounts of torque and could be unsafe for beginners because of the risk of wheelie. the katana is almost as long as the busa, weighs damn near the same weight, and only has like 65 and no torque (since it's 4cyl) so you don't have to worry about wheelies at all. Especially when they learn to take off from a dead stop.. beginners always give too much throttle to keep it from dying and when it catches the front pops up, and my roomie looped his first r6 before insurance gave him money so he could trade it in for the special edition... which he totalled from showing off (no gear except he ACUALLY had a helmet on that day) He... is a squid.

rc51......at least thats what i learned on, only put down once. wasn't too bad but my ankle hurt like shit for the next few days. Nothin like the sound of a 1000cc v twin I'd like to get bigger but I probably won't....

Not dying > looking like a clown.
AE is right man if you are a beginner get something small to learn on but its your choice, in the end you have to decide whats more important, looking cool or living.

starting out on a non begginer bike, anything 600 other then the sv 650, and the CBR f2/f3 600 (along a few more) is being a squid
not wearing leathers is also being a squid
now about vtwin VS 4 cyl
hm where to start..
vtwins do have more torque and lower rpm's but they also have much less horsepower and a much flatter predictable power curve, which is better for begginers, you do not have to worry about popping wheelies on 650 and less vtwins anyway
600's and wheelies are similar... unless you get a new 600, you will not pop a wheelie on it without cluthing, however because its a 4cyl its power curve is more unpredictable and can get you in a whole lot of trouble if you grab the throttle by an accident

wtf when did i ever say the katana is more dangerous? it's a hell of a beginner bike... that thing is slow as ass for a bike. It's got the old school air cooled gixxer motor on a newer heavier katana frame... i got raped by the f-body i raced against at kcir. choosing the katana over a ninja250/500 wouldn't be dangerous at all the "600" cc's of the katana always makes poeple think it's not a good beginner bike but i'd like to see you pop a wheelie on that sucker without clutching it. my gixxer was only 600cc's but i could pop a wheelie without clutching it in 1st, and 2nd. 2nd gear i just had to burst, let off and pull back and reapply throttle and it'd come right up with no problems and almost in 3rd if did a light clutching. i don't know what you tards are talking about i've owned a katana600 and gsxr600 so i know from experience... you fuckers are prolly the squids here talking about bikes when you've prolly never ridden one.
oh yea i have never gone down or had close calls... and when i got my gsxr i sold my katana600 to my friend adam and it was his "beginner" bike and he's had no problems with it... it's a really mild 600'cc bike... even in the powerband.
In conclusion: Katana 600, Katana 750, SV650, Ninja 250 (girls), and Ninja500's are all good starter bikes... i just think the katana 6 looks better than the small ninjas and they're both good bikes and they're both about the same price so i don't see why everyone keeps arguing with me that the katana is a bad choice...

I started on and still have a Yamaha YZF 600R. It is a bike that is overlooked too often. I think it is a good bike b/c one is a 600cc but is more tame then the current supersport 600s. It has adjustable front and rear suspension so you can learn and it can grow with you. A bike is not a cheap and for me i needed something that i was going to keep for a period of time. You can get very good deals on them, the model hasn't changed since 1997 but still has good looks. Its a bike with a cult following where people laugh and say why didn't you get an R6 b/c they don't know the potential the bike has. It is comfortable to ride long distances but also can hold is own through the twisties. A strong motor with good mid range, a stable bike on the highway, and has the ability to forgive as you learn to ride. Take a look at it sometime, good luck with your journey into the world of motorcycling, take an MSF class, ride within your limits, and enjoy what makes riding a passion.

if looks were not important you would be driving a ford escort right now, and wearing clothes from k-mart. Rationality doesnt always overcome peoples fickle nature. I agree that you should start off on a slower bike, but to each their own. Dont place judgment upon people, cuz that just makes you look stupid.

no, starting off on something you cant handle is stupid
of course F16 fighter looks better then any starter airplane, but would you be dumb enough to start on that?
