Try getting it moving backwards first, throw it in drive, standing on the back, and don't forget not to wear a helmet. It'll just get in the way.

So there I was, Heineken in the one hand, cigar in the other, trousers around my ankles, my balls slapping against her chin and I thought to myself, man, what a great fucking beer!

In cans, not bottles. The bottles will probably break when you flip over and bust your ass, leaving you bleeding in a puddle of alcoholic beverage.

OK Recons are about the easiest fourwheeler to wheelie--ever. Just pull back on the bars and gun it from a dead stop in first. If you are just starting out, put one foot on the back rack in case you wheelie past the balance point, so you can just step off or push yourself back down onto the wheels.
The 2nd way to wheelie a recon in any of the lower gears is to do the "clutch-trick". Since it has an auto clutch, simply lift up on the shift lever and hold it, and rev the engine. Then let the shift lever drop while the revs are up... this is the equivalent to popping the clutch on a full manual. This will easily wheelie the quad.
I used to own a Honda 250ex (recon w/o racks), and my friend had a recon. Very fun little toys.
Mods: All stock, for now. Hooked up the stereo though.
The TRX450R is an excellent machine, but for the money spent, the YFZ450 is better. If you are buying used, be careful- some of the earlier machines had oil flow problems. I think you are safe from 05+.
