I've had both my 2001 GSX-R 750 and 2003 GSX-R 1000 topped out, Gixxer speedo's go to 186 MPH regardless of what its really doing so I had both of them at 186 MPH on the speedometer, but real top speed for both of them because of the stock limiter is 169.9 for the 750 and 179.3 on the 1000, so i guess I've been
179ish on the 1K(bone stock)
170ish on the 750(it was modded)
now my 1000 has a bit more power than stock and my top speed restrictor is off, and a few less pounds weight plus i'm a really small guy(145lbs) so maybe I can see some low 180's once I use my friend's GPS unit to get actual speed
I don't know what the actual top speed on your R1 was, but I know its not quite 188, maybe low 170's real world, speedo's get pretty off at anything over 100mph
mine is a unrestricted model as far as emissions are concerned, in other words not a california model... but all 50 state's sport model Suzuki's come with a timing retard in 1st and 2nd, or on my GSX-R 1000 and the Hayabusa its 1st, 2nd, 3rd(to limit power so people are less likely to wreck) and 6th(to limit top speed), now i have true power in all 6 gears

thanks. it dynoed at 115whp in 90+ degree weather outside at a fair grounds meet. I bought the bike from a used bike shop and the guy who dynoed it said that he was the one who polished the whole bike and added all the engine upgrades (full hindle exhaust, ignition advancer, and a jet kit). As far as i know the rest of the bike was stock, gearing and height. He said i could get a cam and get about 180 mph top speed. I think it i get it rejetted it'll be alittle faster. It's running pretty rich right now. I'm getting huge flames out the tail at wot..lol

Try it u mite like it
Please do it safely
I will eventually go faster but i respect the bike and respect the fact that it takes a long time to be good on a bike. New Jersey is a tough place to find a road that is long, straight and doesn't have many cars drive on it. I have seen too many squids around here buy new bikes and wind up in selling do to tickets or crashing them due to rider incompetance. I am a bigger fan of a nice road with a lot of turns then a road go as fast as possible.
Mods: AEM CA intake, DC sports cat back exhaust, accell plug wores, blue tenzo r rally seats, interior shit, jdm gauge cluster, neuspeed lower rear tie bar and front strut bar, projectors, a little stereo action
I probably have the slowest bike here.
Its an 01 Suzuki Bandit 600cc
I bought it when I was 18 so insurance was a factor, I just recently got it paid off, and I want a Honda CBR 900RR, but I need to fix up the civic a little first.
Anyway Got it going 137mph, and supposedly it only goes about 145mph.
