ever notice that motorcycle journalists always seem to mention that 99% of riders wont be able to use every bit of what their sport bike is capable of.
and you notice that car journalists never say that about the top of the line sports cars?
it bugs me that nobody ever mentions that 99% of drivers in their Z06 vette's and Vipers can actually handle their cars to the fullest potential.

what i believe they are trying to comment on with the 99% of riders won't see a bikes full potential is the common question "which bike is better?"
they are built so close today that the only way you'll tell a performance difference in say the 600's is if you are able to ride to the full potential of the bike and even then the difference can be minor.

Its true because 99% of the riders that buy these bikes never actually try to unlock the potential of the bike. Large amount of buyers are young kids and majority compromises of posers & starbucks "park & yap" crews, then there are stunters, then you got middle aged crisis buying a bike to just feel better and hardly ride. Further more you got more & more old folks buying new bikes because they used to ride one back in 60/70s and want the good old "just you, road & the wind" feeling back. Very small group actually take thier bike to track on regular basis and most of these folks are the ones that hardly ride street anymore, so there you have it. Mystery solved.
