What kind of of statement was that
It sounds like the only riders you know of, are the immature squidly type. You can't based that on all riders. Just like they are people with cars with attitudes who put people at risk when they drive

Then you have to try to sell the POS to another idiot who would buy it just to get the money to buy the bike you really wanted in the first place. Every bike can go slow it doesnt matter how fast they are. Now if you are an idiot and have no self control then maybe you need to be limited by a 500cc. But if you are a mature adult and can control your urges then get the bike you want the first go around and keep you wrist out of it until your comfortable. Now granted i did not start out riding street bikes i rode dirt bikes all my life, but when i did get my first street bike it was the big odg at the time and i did just fine. Just dont be an ass and try stupid shit until your comfortable. Also ride with people at or around your same skill level. A lot of accidents are from newbies riding with experienced riders and attempting to keep up. Find yourself a good group of guys that willl take it slow and keep the shiny side up. Also learn as much as you can from differnt courses like the motorcycle safety course your taking. After your done with that go to more advance courses.

Well the thing is...the Ninja 500 is the only bike within my price range. It is 5 grand and the price can be lowered at the dealership. Most bikes with more performance are way out of my price range.

Well then thats a differnet story. All that matters is that you have a bike not what kind it is. But if you were getting the 500 to start on but really wanted another bike then that would be a different story. Either way congrats on the bike and i hope you enjoy it.

Notice how I said most.
The majority of riders (mainly sport bikes) haul ass down the Interstate in packs weaving in and out of traffic. There are riders out there who dont ride like fools, but the majority of them are older. But hey if they wanna weave in and out of traffic like fools, then let them go ahead. I sure won't be the one shoveling guts off the road.

get the bike you want, just be careful on it.
i got my r6 and dropped with in a week its not a matter of if, its a matter of when. but i hurt my leg more than i hurt my bike.
i say go for 600cc. its got lots of thrill, but also demands skill.
its all preference as to which 600cc to get. people will say honda better than yamaha, or yamaha > all. but in the end its whos riding it

I want a 500 simply because for the price you just cant beat the looks and overall package you recieve. I mean lets be real this is a bike you can get for abour 4500 brand new. 60hp 38tq and the looks are badass along with other specs.
Im probably still going to buy the 500 not simply because it is a good starter bike, but one I like. I dunno for me its either that or the Suzuki SV650S which if talked down will be like 5500-6000g's. I dunno if the extra money is truely worth it.

I've always loved bikes.
Simply waking up in the morning is a risk. Stressing over things you have no control over is pointless. All you can do is ride as responsible as possible, if some asshole in a car hits you head on and kills you... well not much you can do about that, but hopefully your family has atleast one man that will avenge your death by taking out that asshole and his family family!

I have been on the r6 and the r1..they fit me ok..but the hondas fit me better and mroe comfortably..there are plenty of people that wont be comfortable on a honda..but will on the yamaha...its jsut how each person is built...I stand behind my original statement..the f4i and 600rr are the only bikes that I fit comfotably on
