So why is there never any action on this part of SHO? Anyway, im 16 and am gonna get a job this summer in addition to the one ive got now to save enough money to have a bike by mid senior year of high school. What were your first bikes and when did everybody on here start riding?

Thats what im trying to get, a used honda cbr600rr, probably the black and red scheme. I dont know though, maybe i'll get like an old katana or ninja
started riding dirtbikes and quads when i was probably about 10. lied to a coworker and said i "rode stuff like that all the time" and drove his cbr off and on for a few months when i was 16. rode various older bikes and sport bikes for past 4 or 5 years and bought the sv a few weeks ago. you name the bike and i've probably rode it.
the 1000 is only marginally faster in a straight line, feels heavier and costs more to buy and insure. the 650 is a better buy. as far as the right bike for you its a personal call. lots of people learn to ride on a 600 sportbike and do just fine, and lots of people end of killing themselves on them trying to learn. i hate when people preach to new riders on which bike to get or what gear to wear so i won't wiegh in here either. but theres nothing wrong with riding a smaller ninja or katana for a few months to get your feet wet.
ps-for my money the honda comes in at or near the bottom of the major 4 inline bikes, and i've rode them all.
if this is your first bike i def wouldn't recomend the 636 (being a previous owner) because plain and simple it will put you on your ass, look for an f4i or something still remotely fast but def reliable, i myself will have a new zx10 here in the winter (best time to get a deal)
I bought an 89 fzr600 in great shape, pretty nice bike. Id definetly say go with an f4 or a used r6. Ill be trying to get an RR or f4 for my next bike.
edit: i started riding a couple weeks ago,but im already bustin endos!
bustin endos already thats whats up i do em on dirt bikes but im still yet to ride a street bike but yea i think im gonna try to find a decent f4i and then get a bigger bike a couple years from then
