helmet, jacket and gloves 99% of the time. There will be days when i ride to the gas station (under a mile away).. It gets hot down here (FL) but i still wear gear. i'm buying boots and pants soon...The majority of people here think there superman and ride with nothing

Where up north are you talking about.
In jersey you have to ride with your helmet on every time its the law.
Unlike florida where you can ride with or without a helmet
When I used to ride, Helmet, gloves, leather jacket, jeans and good boots(Tims or skeaters )

alright this is totally unrelated to street riding, but i hope it encourages you all to ride with gear...........one day we were out at a local spot for dirtbikes, huge area, called PMI , pretty much miles open, soem decent jumps, etc.... anyways it was nearing the end of the day so we went for one last "cruise" in which this is usually our cool down ride we were looking for one of our friends we hadnt seen in a minute, well, i dropped into a bowl kinda thing.. it was small only 4-5 foot on each side.... well i caught a bad kicker at the takeoff that i wasnt ready for, it threw me and my bike into a front flip, even though it was supposed to be a casual slow ride, it threw me into a front flip needless to say i had all my gear in but my helmet, luckily i lived after i landed on my head then slid on my back....anyways i guess the point is WEAR YOUR DAMN GEAR i got lucky, i dont wish a gearless crash on anyone

you are lucky. Someone was watching you that day. I crashed before wearing my gear and GOD knows how much that hurt. I had zipper marks on my forearms and my keys in my pocket were imprinted on the legs. Not to mention i could not closes my hands for a couple of days since i broke every lever on the bike with hands.
Just ride safe and cautious, If you have that feeling that some thing is wrong before you ride just dont ride.

fo sho about your last statement, i go out to the track(once again MX) to practice and some days i get shit from ppl liek wtf is wrong why arent you tripling that or you do it first youre the crazy one, and i refuse then they try to egg me on but i wont do it cause i just feel not right, although i will admit sometimes i get the rush going( even you street riders know what im talking about) and i get crazy, ill pass ppl in crazy spots, fly over ppl in the air and look back at them cause i dotn wanna land on them, and generally do some stupid shit ( i mean one time i came out of a corner and hit a jump face at a high speed i wasnt ready for, my inside boot was still sticking out, outside boot was on edge of peg it slipped when i hit the face, i was going fast enough that i greyed out and couldnt see until i was in the air with both feet pegless) this is common in high G mx stuff, i guess the lesson is WEAR YOUR DAMN GEAR AND RIDE TO YOUR ABILITY, if you cant do it then dont, dont let someone talk you into doing somethign you think you cant do

I understand completely: The day I crashed i should have stayed home, I had a super gut feeling that something was going to happen, but I went out anyway we were riding 30 deep if i recall. But you live, you learn and you ride again. That is the way it will always be..

watched my buddy go down and woulda been finr except some bruises if he would had a pair of jeans on instead of shorts and a jacket instead of a wife beater... after that I've never worn without either... I mean occassionally in shorts but never without a jacket, gloves, and a helmet.
