'00 Civic EX Sedan "Re"build thread

Well, I've been without my license since last October and I've been going crazy not being able to drive (as you might imagine.) The positive: I haven't had to insure or put gas in my car in the past 9 months The negative: I have to mooch rides off everyone, and I still pay for gas cuz I fill my gf's tank every couple weeks.

Anyways, there's a significant amount of body damage to the car due to a hit & run by some random Lawrence asshole and my own blacked out stupidity. With 3 months to go before I get to drive again, I figure it's time to start putting the car back together again. I started by reinstalling the interior of the car (well, most of it.) I had the back seat, door sills, and center console out in order to rerun my stereo wiring under the console and carpet down the transmission tunnel. I forgot to take pics of what it looked like with that all out, but I'll get some up of everything reinstalled.

Now it's time to move on to the exterior. I had a head-on collision with something during DUI #1 that did the front bumper in, along with the headlight brackets and front crash bar. That accident also caused me to crack my skull into the windshield, giving me a concussion and putting a nice star into the windshield. The yellow paint and position of the impact on the bumper suggests that I hit one of those poles they put on the ends of gas pumps, but I really have no clue. I also cracked the rear bumper backing into a dumpster (also drunk.) Then, whoever hit & run on me backed into the driver side rear door and dented the shit out of it.

So now I've got some Type-R "style" headlights on the way, along with a Type-R style grill, and the front and rear bumpers I don't think I'm going to do anything about the front crash bar for the moment, the bumper will go on without replacing it and I really don't want to pay to have it replaced. The windshield is next on the agenda, and then I'll have to get an estimate on getting the door skin (and maybe the support beam) replaced later. I really want to get that done because it looks horrible, but I just know it's going to be prohibitively expensive

Now that I've typed wayyyy too F'ing much, go ahead and tell me how useless this thread is (with OR without pics ) I'll get out either tomorrow morning or this weekend and snap some photos of the car in it's current condition and then update it's progress over the next few months...Wish me luck

Yes, thank you for being that guy as I knew there would be one out there. Anyways, got the headlights in today...

Pretty easy install, would've been much easier if my damn bumper reinforcement bar wasn't sooo F'd up

I was really hoping not to replace that, but after putting the headlights in I'm going to have to do something about it for sure. I wonder if I can just go at it w/ a Sawzall and be done with it...I'm going to take the Driver's side light out tomorrow and take a sledgehammer to it to see if I can work it out a lil. Otherwise I might have to get some estimates on getting it fixed cuz I know the headlight doesn't fit exactly like it should and getting the bumper on is gonna be a pain in the ass (although I got it off just fine.)

At least a lil progress has been made and hopefully I figure out a cheap fix for the bumper support so I can move on. Ordering front/rear bumpers next week so hopefully I'll have those in less than a month...more pictures to come

Alright, well I've got the front/rear bumpers ordered and hopefully they'll be on the way soon. While I wait I took some pics with my phone today. Still need to check into getting the front bumper reinforcement replaced...

Well I now have the Type R style headlights in, the Type R grill and the front and rear bumpers on. It looks pretty decent just needs a few tweaks...I'll try and take pics this weekend
