Car pulls to left under hard acceleration only

It seems whenever i accelerate hard as i shift into the next gear and let out the clutch my car will jerk to the left harshly..... I know my alignment is a little off, but would that be the only reason why is jerks so hard? The car is a 2000 Civic EX coupe with a standard

its called torque steer. its caused by the unequal length of the drive axles. this is a common problem with "cheap" front wheel drive cars. the civic only has a left and a right axle. the right one is short and the left one is long. the integra for example has the axle that is on the left is make out of two pieces. one is the outer axle and the one that connects to the tranny is the intermediate axle. hope this helps. if anyone has anything to add please do so.
just my 2 cents

a limited slip differential could help that out a bit. Quaife (sp) makes good LSD's. It will basically even out the torque between the two wheels... when you are under power, it puts more power down to the pass. side wheel... hence the reason it pulls to the left... the right side of the car pulls faster....

due to the small amount of torque that hondas make, torque steer shouldn't account for anything as drastic as what Youens is describing. it might account for some of it, but odds are that the suspension's out of alignment. toe being off could very easily cause this problem.

Yea, unless its turbo or SC, it shouldnt be pulling as hard as described. Like mike said, check the alignment.
