Civic wont start :(

I just picked my friend up from his house and it was running fine. Then I got home to drop something off and we were gonna go skateboard and I tried to start it and it didn't do anything. It didn't click or anything. I'm thinkin it's the starter or the starter cilinoid but I dont know. What do you think?

Battery could be completely dead. Check all the grounds, especially the one going to the frame off the tranny. Do you hear the fual pump turn on, if not, check your main relay.

Well its not the starter or the silinoid.

Its either the ignition has gone bad, the starter relay switch, or the clutch switch i just dont know though .

Any ideas?

ok let me ask you a couple of questions so i can determine what is wrong with your car.

1. is the battery fully charged or good?
2. does all the gauge light come on including radio and head lights?
3. does it turn, any click?

also look at the battery terminal connections and clean them good along with the battery post itself.

How do you know it's not the starter solenoid? Did you take it out and bench test it? Seriously, I was working on my ingition and when I was done, I forgot to hook all the grounds back up and the same thing happened. Key turn = nothing. Upgrade all your grounds now, even if it's not the problem, cause it lightens the load on your charging system. Um, next thing i'd check is your main relay. After that it'd be the clutch switch like you said.

silly question but do you know what the solenoid looks like?
if so there is going to be a 1 wire connector that has a black rubber boot on it.
pull the boot back to see if the wire is connected.
in my history of finding problems with these no starts were that 1 wire heading to the solenoid.
the boot would completely cover the wire but the wire never made a good connection.
check that wire .
and all the wires to the starter.
and if its the solenoid take a hammer and tap the solenoid while having some one trying to start it.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!be sure the car is in NEUTRAL when you do this. god forbid some jackass leaves it in first and lets off the clutch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
now im not saying break the damn solenoid but tap it enough so that it vibrates the solenoid.
for all you know there could be an intermittent short in the solenoid.

Ahhh that reminds me of the days with my sister's Cutlass. The solenoid had a carbon build up like every other week. And she didn't know what to hit so I was always outside on the ground looking like a moron hitting the car with a bat

Definitely try that out though.

did you ever resolve this? my car had the same problem. drove to class just fine, came back out, went to start it (i always let the fuel pump prime before i start and all that magic happened just fine) and not even a click. grounds look fine. the afore mentioned wires are connected, just wondered if the tapping helped you? just replaced 2 axles, and cant afford to start replacing things at the moment. (new dad too =$$$$$$$$)

take the starter out and get it tested. also you can take the clutch interlock switch ( under the clutch pedal) and take it to the Honda dealer and get it tested.

Before the car finally stopped starting, did it drag before starting??? More than likely, the starter died.....

found the problem! where the clutch makes contact with the clutch switch and presses it in, there is a round disk. mine has disintegrated all over the floor board, so now the switch just goes through the hole thats left and is never actuated. unfortunately for me, i cant just go buy that piece. it's one of those "have to buy the whole assembly" type deals, and like i said, between new axles and a new baby, i'm strapped. im trying some creative solutions, but the location of the hole is not making it easy. it's next to impossible to get to. thought about pulling the clip off the back of the switch and bridging the connectors inside the clip till i have time to rip the whole clutch assembly out. there are only two wires to the clip, so im assuming (since it is a "switch') that one is power in and the other power out. anyone else have this part break? anyone know what it's called, other than mystery disk? has anyone else tried to bypass the clutch switch like this?
