Which is funny because aftermarket exhaust are universal mufflers with piping fit to be an exact match for you car. The bottom line is you're always at the will of the trooper pulling you over. The law there basically states that no exhaust system modification for the sake of performance is allowed for sound, smoke, and emission reasons. However the sound one gets me because Harley's are loud as shit stock by they don't say anything. You got jackasses that blip the throttle over and over at lights and stop signs like their bikes are running on carbs. Dicks.
Troopers (and any other law enforcement agency for that matter) are hunting for kids, I personally don't really see people driving a riced out civic when they are over 30. Cops use that shit just to hunt us down because we're all stupid kids with lead feet.
Mods: 2" front/ 2.2 inch rear drop springs, adjustable uper conrtol arms front and read, DC Sports maxx air intake, DC sports 4-2-1 header, custom 2" cat back exhaust with flowmaster 60 series muffler, venom 10% increased flow injectors and bored over stock throttle body
it pretty much comes down to the sound it makes. if its whiny and annoying youre going to get stopped, if its smooth and fairly quiet they wont mess with you. if you are looking for performance with less chance of being screwed with then have your local exhaust shop do up a custom flowmaster 60 series exhaust for you. just make sure they use the cat exit size tubing for the whole system. most hondas are going to be 2inch.
