OK i dont know if i posted this here yet or not but my car was having an idling problem. I thought at first it was just the IACV, had that replaced didnt fix the problem; took it to another mechanic and he couldnt figure out what was wrong with it. He checked for vacuum leaks and wasnt it, i put in some injector cleaner and that didnt help, he made sure my coolant is ok and it is. So its not
my injectors
coolant
vacuum leak
IACV
What else could be causing my car to idle surge? The guy at B&K Imports the second mechanic i took it to seems to think its the VAFC i had installed. Could my VACF be causing my idle surging? I have never heard of that happening. What my car does is idle real weird when im sitting still ie. like at a stoplight. When im goign the car doesnt seem to do it and the car seems to run fine. The idle surging has become worse. It used to stop after my car warmed up after runnign it for a lil bit but now it constantly does no matter how long i drive.Every once in a while though it wont do it.

wassup, i had the same prob, and it seems like alot of 92-95 civic have this problem. this is what it was and how i fixed it for free.
my intake manifold gasket was bad. when your car warms up it will expand and close the gaps, so i would spray sme intake cleaner along your intake manifold gasket while your car is running, if the surging stops or if there is any change in idle then you need a new gasket, but heres the free/cheap way to fix it and it will last a long time.
smear a bunch of silicone gasket sealent all over around the intake mani gasket to seal it up, let it dry and your all fixed.
my car was doing that same thing and idle, it would surge from about 600rpm to 1200rpm, now its at a nice 500-600rpm all the time.
hope this helps!
i know its a little late, but...
fast idle is the little flathead screw on your TB. i am pretty sure all it does is determine how fast your car idles, hence the name 'fast idle' lol.
I have the same exact problem but its not my TPS its not my IACV its not the " Fast Idle Screw " Hell I went and got the book. It said it could be the EGR but I have no idea where the hell that is. I had the problem on my other car but that was a vacume leak that I fix. I have no Idea what this is. Can any of you help !

The fast idle is not the screw on the throttle body, that would be the idle adjusting screw. All the screw does is adjust the idle up or down as you are letting more or less air into the TB. There is a FIA control valve, but that is the fuel injection air control valve to allow more air to the fuel injectors. I had an idle fluctuating problem coupled with hard cold starts, but all that was was two connectors were wrong from the ECT and VTEC pressure switch. Switched those and everything's fine.
